There is only one thing I want from who plays striker for us: an effective outlet, that's it. A player who has good movement in terms of finding spaces and angles that allow us to pass the ball forward without interception, and who is then intelligent and precise with his lay offs to advancing teammates. Is higuin THIS player?

We play a passing game around one central striker, that means for me the striker HAS to have the skillet I described, regardless of whether he's clinical.

I think Arsene focuses on that as well Diego. Higuain was a very good link up player pre Ronaldo. When he played with Raul n co he was much more than a poacher.

Could have sworn papers were reporting a couple of weeks ago that the player had practically agreed personal terms after meeting with Wenger in Paris.

In any case, agreeing a fee is the hardest part of any Arsenal transfer; whether we'll actually go for it and pay the big fee or not... knowing our transfer history, I'm keeping my hopes and expectations low.

By the way, anyone notice how that Mirror article and Telegraph article are practically identical?

Higuain needs support and service to shine, judging by the way we play here he'd struggle to get that here.

Some of you make it sound like he does nothing but stand around in the box waiting for someone to put the ball on his foot so he can knock it in. He actually has a higher dribble conversion rate than Jovetic. And I think you're underestimating the current Arsenal players. They managed to score quite a few goals even without such a deadly finisher. This is a Champions League team, not relegation fodder.

yeah.. i also thought the same sometime back.. but what we need is a CF.. so it will better to buy Higuain over Jovetic and Rooney.. we also need to add some creativity.. but sign only if we a get a top top CAM.. or put trust on Wilshere and Rosicky to do the job this season.. next season we will have Cesc back..

Checking 'newsnow arsenal transfers' it appears in the last few hours FOUR news sources (Daily Mirror, Bleacher report, Short fuse and (cough) Caughtoffside) that Higuain has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and is a gooner. The fee reported to be 22m.

If it's true I'm getting drunk.

Come on. Get this confirmed please Arsenal. We're gagging.

In transfer terms, we've rounded the keeper and are 10 yards from goal in a central position.
