Re: Arsenal Pre-season
Arsene says Ryo might stay at the Emirates this season unless something happens.
Ryo has been going on loan for the past 2-3 years. Apart from his first loan spell, the rest were hampered due to injury.
Keeping him might be a good decision but he won't get much playing time. Perhaps Martinez might take him to Everton on loan?

Ryo will be like a new signing. One less we will have to buy.

Re: Arsenal Pre-season
Right, I've looked at the highlights, so here's a break down, complete with crappy arrows, on some of the moments in the game. The theme of today's analysis is defensive cover...
(For the sake of not making this post too large, I've separated it into spoiler tags)
(For the sake of not making this post too large, I've separated it into spoiler tags)
- First Urawa Chance:
The first chance of the game went to Urawa. In the first screenshot, you'll see the beginning of their attack.
There were two immediate problems here: players 1 and 2 were in acres of room as the Urawa forward plays the ball. Jack Wilshere, the closest to the ball, was in the best position to move in and intercept the ball, while Serge Gnabry was the only one who had a realistic shot at closing down 1.
Gnabry failed to get close to 1 and 1 ended up with the ball in a dangerous position with 2 as a spare man. Miquel was in a difficult position since had he moved to cover the run of 2, he'd have opened up room for 1 to have a shot at goal. However, if he blocked off the goal, 2 would likely receive the ball in a dangerous position. This situation was brought upon by the lack of cover from Arsenal's midfield. Had Gnabry gotten tighter to player 1, it would have delayed him long enough for Miquel to get into a more favourable position. Alternatively, someone could have gone with the run of player 2.
Fortunately, when player 2 did receive the ball, Arsenal had 5v3 in the penalty area and they would have dealt with it comfortably had Fabiasnki not failed to hold onto the cross.
- Second Urawa Chance:
Another Urawa chance involved a similar situation.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Urawachance2part1_zpsf46ea957.png
Straight away, you can see that player 3 had been left unchecked again. What Miquel did was interesting. As Koscielny stepped up to meet player 1, Miquel moved to cover the space left behind so that player 2 wouldn't end up unmarked. But did he have to? You can see Mertesacker also making a move to cover, and I just wonder if Miquel could have held his position.
As it was, player 2 laid it off to player 4, who played the easy pass into the path of player 3. 3 did Miquel easily and got a good shot off at goal, but Fabiasnki was, thankfully, on hand to save it.
- Third Urawa Chance:
Miquel was in the spotlight again here.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Urawachance3part1_zpsef267cce.png
With Koscielny occupied by player 2, it was Miquel's responsibility to pick up the run of player 1. As the ball was cut across the penalty area, though...
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Urawachance3part2_zps7dd8f1e1.png
...Miquel hasn't followed the run. Koscielny did his best to get to the ball first and may have put off player 2 in doing so, since his shot was put over the bar.
- First Arsenal Goal:
Now let's pick apart Urawa's defending.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Arsenalgoalpart1_zps5bc74604.png
After Rosicky's wonderful lay off, Chamberlain had the ball whilst surrounded by three Urawa players. While this was an attempt to prevent Chamberlain from going anywhere, they left a great amount of space for Aaron Ramsey to move into. Chamberlain did extremely well and managed to play a pass into space.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Arsenalgoalpart3_zpsb8927590.png
With Ramsey on the ball, Urawa didn't have many problems. 1 had come out to meet Ramsey, 2 had spotted the run of the Jenkinson and moved to cover that and 3 was in a good position to mark Walcott, who had started to make a move inside. At that point, the only pass on for Ramsey was Jenkinson on the overlap.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Arsenalgoalpart4_zps3b94713b.png
How did Walcott end up in so much room? 3 switched off. 1 was still on Ramsey, 2 was still covering Jenkinson's run, but 3... 3 was standing around scratching his balls. 3's lack of focus meant that 4 would, eventually, have to meet Walcott in the penalty area. In doing so...
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Arsenalgoalpart5_zpsf9def95e.png
...Podolski, who made a late run, ended up in plenty of space to score the first goal.
- Urawa Goal:
I actually don't need to talk about this goal much as the screenshot tells the whole story.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Urawagoalpart1_zps06bd2ded.png
The ball came in and 1 made a move across the six yard area. That was fine, since the cross was arriving at the near post and Arsenal had plenty of cover there.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Urawagoalpart2_zps294ffc95.png
As it turned, we had too much cover there. Count them: 5 players marking the same area, none of them alert to the eventual goalscorer's movement.
- Other:
Finally, let's look at two more interesting things I noticed.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Coverwhatcover_zps58735afb.png
The first is an Urawa chance in the second half that came about when they had a 5v4 advantage. You can Koscielny was trying to meet the player on the ball, but in that situation, there wasn't much he could do.
The issue was that when Arsenal intially cleared the ball, their midfield reacted poorly. Rosicky lost out on to an Urawa player, while Chamberlain made little effort to win the ball back or drop deeper to help his defence. Rosicky then turns and has a moan at Chamberlain for doing sod all, while Urawa carve out a chance on goal that Fabiasnki did well to smother.
https://2img.net/h/i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r667/jeinchy1/Arsenalgoal2_zps8376fb70.png
This was just before the second goal. Ramsey had no options when he first received the ball, but Akpom made another good run in behind that Ramsey spotted. While his pass wasn't the best, it created the confusion that eventually lead to Akpom scoring the winner.

Would not surprise me and I think it could actually get to be real bad this year. As for Wenger, Ivan decided to make it public at the end of last season that Wenger would have a war chest to spend in strengthening the squad. Some feel as of now it has been debateable that there has been any real effort in strengthening the squad. According to reports we have been linked with everyone of the top CF that were available this year. Now all of them except Suarez have moved to other teams that "reportedly" were willing to pay more than we were. With Suarez, again according to reports we offered 40+1 when it had already been widely reported that liverpool would be expecting 50+. Me, I am not sure that you will get to far in any negotiations with a starting offer of 20% less than stated value.
Now will it have been all Wengers fault!
Who knows, what we will know is that Ivan came out giving multiple interviews stating that Wenger was being given the financial war chest we had accumulated that would allow us to compete for transfers and salaries with the biggest clubs in the world. So far there has been no ambition we will see what the rest of the windows brings. With most of the biggest names already switching teams those WC signings that the fans hoped for seem to not be on their way to the Emirates. So when we end up struggling in matches that AFC should win, out of 1st place, or struggling for 4th. More now than any other time, Ivan and the board have set it up to be one persons fault. With Wenger out becoming louder and louder if we struggle.

Wenger says we'll see Cazorla and Sanogo in the Emirates Cup this weekend. He also considers Wilshere to be "completely available" now.
