Vietnam 1-7 Arsenal
Good match. A lot of the players looked good. Some didn't.

the 4th CB.. Sagna.. he can provide quality cover too..? so we may not need a cheap average one like Squid..GoonerJay29 wrote:Szczesny; Jenkinson, Sagna, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Gnabry, Podolski, Giroud

Re: Arsenal Pre-season
Vietnam 1 - 7 Arsenal (Giroud x3, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Akpom x2, Miquel)
The various line-ups we had throughout the game:
Szczesny; Jenkinson, Sagna, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Gnabry, Podolski, Giroud
Szczesny; Jenkinson, Sagna, Mertesacker, Miquel; Ramsey, Zelalem, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Walcott, Miyaichi, Akpom
Szczesny; Jenkinson, Sagna, Mertesacker, Miquel; Ramsey, Zelalem, Wilshere; Walcott, Miyaichi, Akpom
Martinez; Olsson, Aneke, Mertesacker, Miquel; Ramsey, Zelalem, Wilshere; Walcott, Eisfeld, Akpom
Notes:
-- Arsenal looked tired in the first half. Performance no where near as lively as it was against Indonesia. Passing and decision making sloppy. Conditions probably didn't help.
-- Vietnam played positively and got men forward. Constantly made runs in behind our defence and got behind our midfield numerous times. Was a good test for the players physically as well as tactically.
-- Giroud's finishing has, thus far, been outstanding. Second and third goals particularly impressive.
-- Podolski doesn't have a right foot.
-- There were some arguments between players on the field: Podolski had a moan at Chamberlain for not passing earlier, Jenkinson had a bit of a moan at Gnabry for not passing it to him, Gibbs had a moan at Koscielny for not picking up his man.
-- Zelalem impressed again with his vision and passing ability.
-- Miyaichi looked very rusty and only played 20 minutes or so.
-- Chamberlain will be an Arsenal great by scoring against Vietnam, according to Stuart Robson.
-- Walcott's finishing... a bit rubbish today.
-- Aneke played centre back again.
-- Olsson played right back.
-- Ramsey went off the pitch towards the end of the game. Not sure if injured or picked a knock at some point.
-- Vietnam scored. #WengerOut
-- Wilshere played his first pre-season game since he was taken off injured against Boca Juniors in August 2011.
The Japanese teams will certainly give us a sterner test. They're not only of better quality, but they're currently a good 20 weeks into their season so they'll be fitter and have some form behind them, especially Urawa Reds who are near the top of the J-League.
It's been good fun so far, though. Indonesia and Vietnam have been great hosts for the team and have given us a decent workout, Vietnam especially.

Can't wait for Jap games, they will be much more harder and we can really see how fit the players are. Stojković is gonna try his best to impress his old boss and try his hardest to make it hard for us
If Zelalem can impress us against one of them, i would love to see him go on loan to a Championship team

Re: Arsenal Pre-season
Apparently there are Japan friendlies being played around the same time, too. Most of the Japan is made up of foreign based players, so I'm not sure how many Nagoya/Urawa players will be called up, but there's a possibility.
Experience tells me that these clubs will still field strong sides, even though it's in the middle of their season. It's a big opportunity, after all.

Been trying to learn japanese for over 6 months Also what Arsene said was very basic.
Regarding what team they will play. Probably half reserve half 1st team. Hopefully their strongest.

Re: Arsenal Pre-season
The reception Arsenal received in Hanoi blew Wenger away.
“When Vietnam scored, it was one of the few times in my life that I enjoyed it when our opponents scored,” he said.
“It was such a great moment in the stadium and they deserved to be happy.
“We’ll try to come back here because it has been such a positive experience. But the decision is not only down to me. Vietnam must want us to come back too.”
