Llorente misses Confederations Cup
Juventus-bound Fernando Llorente has the summer off, as he has been left out of Spain’s provisional squad for the Confederations Cup.
Heading out to Brazil as world and double European champions, La Roja have listed a provisional 26-man selection, due to be trimmed down at the conclusion of La Liga’s fixtures next weekend.
Coach Vicente del Bosque has pulled few surprises with his choices, listing 20 of the 23 that won last year’s Euro 2012 title, but Llorente is one of those three to lose their place since last summer.
The 28-year-old, who is joining Juventus at the end of June on a Bosman, has not featured for Spain since August 2012’s friendly with Puerto Rico, having endured a miserable season in the shadows at Athletic Bilbao.
Spain squad for Confederations Cup
Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Victor Valdes, Pepe Reina
Defenders: Alvaro Arbeloa, Gerard Pique, Raul Albiol, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jordi Alba, Sergio Ramos, Nacho Monreal
Midfielders: Javi Garcia, Sergio Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Javi Martinez, Jesus Navas, Benat Etxebarria, Juan Mata, David Silva, Santi Cazorla, Cesc Fabregas
Forwards: David Villa, Fernando Torres, Roberto Soldado, Pedro Rodriguez

Re: Llorente misses Confederations Cup
He can come straight to Italy, train hard and focus on making back the national team next time around

Actually I like this more, he'll have more time to work with Conte and get into our team

Re: Llorente misses Confederations Cup
Guys, no matter what Llorente will do he will never be a starter for Espana.
-He needs the frontline built around him ala Ibra in order to play his False 9 role which completely takes away the purpose of Espana's play. Cesc plays False 9 occasionally yet in a role which actually is vastly different to Llorente's role.
-He is a Basque nationalist which causes rifts within the Seleccion and VDB has fallen victim to diplomatic players hence why so many Castillans are playing for Espana.
Puzzling, I know considering he is a beast when playing for La Roja and makes us play better yet VDB has recently suffered from Lippilism
It never was because he isn't good enough.
