2017 Confederations Cup
There is at least some football to watch in this off season, in a few days the Confederations Cup starts, once every four years. Wonder if many will be watching it?
This year no regular teams like Brazil, main teams being Portugal, Germany, Chile, Mexico, host Russia, Cameroon. It seems though Portugal favourites since they are fielding a strong team compared with Germany who are not?
Just any thoughts for this cup? Who do u think will win?

Safe bet would be Germany but Ronaldo winning it all just has destiny written all over it.

Can't miss any Portugal game for the life of me. Would have to know first hand what kind of player André Silva is

More like our C team tbh
Löw left everyone at home so they could have a summer holiday for once
Only Reus was supposed to come from the first guard but of course he got injured again, as before every NT tournament

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
Its a shame, last Confederations Cup was enjoyable because Brazil, Spain, Italy and Uruguay all took full strength teams.

Köln's left back who has been Germany's starting left back for the last 2 years. He is from the 'A-team' too.

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
Dont think Ive ever seen an NT tournament with so little interest Read somewhere this could be the last one... doesnt help when the big teams miss out or like Germany just taking a B-C team...
Russia just beat NZ 2-0 in a game that no one watched I bet.
Ronaldo looks like going to win it to cement his 5th Ballon D'or, stat padding against scrubs again Unlike Chile can stop them, the other teams dont like good enough.

You Messi fan boys will be drivien clinically insane by the end of December when Ronaldo overtakes Messi officially as the Greatest of this generation with his 5th ballon d'or
So he is stat padding against scrubs? Let me see
5 against Bayern, 3 against Atletico and 2 against the defence that Messi did zilch against over 180 minutes. Instead Messi stat padded in the group stage against weak teams then flopped against PSG and Juventus, then goes on to stat pad against bums like Eibar
Ronaldo had the most decisive season in the history of the CHampions league, the best competition in football. Please give me a season where Messi or any other player in this history of the game has been as decisive.
I'll wait...

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
The attendance was a bit disappointing. The entire stadium wasn't filled. The match was nothing great either, both teams were rather horrible
Mexico vs Portugal however will be exciting

Ronaldo can win 10 golden balls for all i care, but he will never be the greatest of this generation, because he needs to be as good as Messi in football for that, and he just isn't.

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
Is this ongoing?
I forgot about this sorry excuse for a tournament tbh lmao
Was great back in 2009 when Brazil was playing with Kaka, Robinho, Luis Fabiano, Lucio, Dani Alves etc, Spain with the core of the 08 team, and a transcendent USA that beat Spain and beat Brazil 2-0 in the final (at half time we don't talk about the second half). I actually enjoyed that Confed cup.
Now we got a poverty Mexico playing with a bunch of nobodies like Cameroon, Russia and New Zealand.

Re: 2017 Confederations Cup
That final was great. It was one of the few football matches that I watched at a bar. My friends and I were the only Brasilians in a place with about 30 to 40 Americans.
Watching their rollercoaster of emotions was priceless. As was celebrating afterwards. Good times.

So it was great because your team did well in it? The US reaching the final is proof of how weak that tournament was.
2013 was the best imo.

Still haven't seen any replay.
Was the offside on Ronaldo's shot? If so. How long can they go back to change the call?
