Taking about Italy u21's and Italy NT.

Basically, are both Italy teams playing today?

I'm very confused.

Pretty sure it's only the host nation on the opening day like all the other major tournaments.

Nearly 100 appearances for the best team in the World and chased by the biggest clubs in the World.

Much bigger accomplishment than struggling for a place in the team at Getafe or destroying League 2 level defenses in the Segunda.

Thiago has made 68 appearances for Barca. Morata while alternating between the first and the second team has had 15 in his first season with the first team. Thiago was part of Barcas senior team since 2009 Laughing

Morata isnt even destroying segunda lol. just a suggestion educate yourself on the subject before throwing claims around

That's League alone!

And I thought we were discussing Madrid youngsters in general not Morata!!!?

I like Morata BUT its clear he has a huge physical advantage over the other players at this level. Can't bully the majority of La Liga defenders like he's done so far.

Ballesteros and Mathieu would have him for dinner. Proud

Nah I was just saying Thiago hasn't shown he is better than them yet. In his position yes (although I think Olivier Torres has a higher ceiling than him) but overall?? nah. We are both talent factories though so every year there will be talents either promoted or sold to teams their talents fit in in.

Morata has already scored vs Levante Laughing but I agree we will have to see he hasn't proven much yet in the elite competitions but he has shown he is too good for his age group.

only brazil-japan game today tom

Isco has the talent but I am afraid he hasn't played for a team he strictly is bound to a position in. He has always had freedom. Thiago would kill promising attacks if played at AM judging by how long he keeps the ball for

You're underrating Thiago immensely. The lad has no weaknesses and is an incredibly quick decision maker for his age. His quickness with the ball at his feet is unbelievable and is one of the few unteachable skills in football.

Defending, passing, touch, skill, dribbling, vision, tactical nous, versatility. shooting, scoring. Hell, he's even better than Messi in the air. He can do it all.

Unreal talent and clearly the best of this new Spanish generation.

Thiago is a better defender than Iniesta, Cex and Xavi combined. He's even played DM several times in his young career ffs,

Seems like he's suffering from the same syndrome Oscar is at Chelsea. People note Mata and Hazard are defensive liabilities, see his diminutive frame and decide to tar him with the same brush rather than viewing what's right in front of them.

Thiago has already scored 11 goals for Barca. Took Iniesta 5 1/2 seasons to surpass that. Cesc who's considered too direct by the purists on here need 4 and unlike Thiago was a guaranteed starter at Arsenal in his early years.

And yes, his tactical understanding is far beyond his years. Stop hating.

Why you bothering with Hala? he has immense Barca hate, no point trying to convince of him of something with is obvious to anyone with a clear mindset.

Football won today.

Sacchism won today.

Italia won today.

Not only did we see the way football should be properly played, but we also saw the Italians (football purists) overcome the Dutch. Best known for their anti-football as of late and they showcased it today. The Italians played an Italian 4-4-2 reminiscent of the way higher father Sacchi used to plan out his team. Bar one difference which was the offside trap. Which sadly can no longer be implemented in this modern era. The Italians who exposed the famous Dutch 4-3-3, albeit not the first time. For those who weren't alive or do not remember there was a famous Italian coach by the name Fabio Capello who exposed the Dutch 4-3-3. Rather easily as well. Along with the Italian 4-4-2. Yes there were a few differences between Capello's 4-4-2 and the one higher father Arrigo Sacchi implemented, but the basic concept was the same and as a result, Milan beat Cruyff's Barcelona's dream team 4-0.

Moving along now we will be facing other football purists Espana. It will be a spectacle and I'll be sure to enjoy this match. Hopefully we don't suffer a tragic result similar to the one of Euro 2012. This is the best possible outcome and I hope Italy prevail.

Forza Italia.

Forza Sacchism.

Forza football.

I hate reading these "the way football is meant to be played" nonsense. The beauty of football is that it can be played in many ways, sometimes in antonym terms, and nobody can say which is the best way because teams have won glory using completely different tactics. Football evolves and something that might work today against team X may not, and will not work against it in 5-10 years.

I'm glad I was wrong tbh.

That being said, this is all in hindsight, benching your top scorer when he's on good form and fit stil doesn't make any sense before the game.
