Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
How do you rate Dragovic, the Basel CB!!! I have seen only few times and looked decent. He is like a hybrid of Skrtel (established starter) and Ilori/Coates (raw talent). Will be cheap too.

According to our most reliable Journalists Papa ain't a target any more. But that said i have not heard any other name pop out! Maybve Skrtel it is
I wouldn't buy into what the journalists say about us losing interest on players. They have no way of knowing that. Them saying Mkh and Papa aren't targets anymore basically means we've cooled off a bit maybe for different reasons (like ynwa pointed out in Papa's case to get Schalke to bring the price down or what not).

That's an interesting option. I haven't seen him play but from what I've heard he seems to be talented.

mate, same info here as McAgger told, can also confirm that he is talented as heard from others. But have no idea of his strengths or weakness. May be 'rwo' can shed some light here, if she is reading this postiftikhar wrote:How do you rate Dragovic, the Basel CB!!! I have seen only few times and looked decent. Another look at Mkhitaryan & how his traits are some what similar to our Captain Fantastic.

Except that the Echo do actually have connections with the club, and their reports are by and large accurate. So when they say definitively that we've ended our pursuit of Papadopoulos I'm inclined to think that they've reason to be confident in that statement.

Mkhitaryan seems to be much closer to Lampard than Gerrard on the pitch.

Yes, I know Echos connection to Pool very well and that they are by large Liverpool mouthpiece when it comes to the media. However it would also seem likely that in trying to lower Papa's price or to get Schalke to negotiate their stance we could be using Echo as ploy to show that our interest is diminished whereas everyone at the club clearly still feel that Papa is our number 1 target.
Of course that may not be the case at all and I'm reading in between the lines but the possibility is not too far fetched.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
Hopefully the club can sell the following players -
Shelvey
Spearing
Pacheco
Assaidi
Coates [depending on availability of replacement]
That's atleast 10-15 million imo.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
Shelvey's best role looks to number either no10 or CM to me.
Now that we have Hendo, Allen, Coutinho, Luis Alberto, Gerrard, Maybe another AM/CM [ Henrikh etc ] I dont see how he'll be getting more than 5 starts in a season.

Im not against keeping him, But i dont see him turning out to be the new Steven Gerrard as people label him. He has barely progressed over 2-3 years imo. I think a move could be good both clubs.

I've already stated I haven't seen him play. So tell me if I'm wrong here. But from what I read he seem's to be a hybrid of the two. He's a complete midfielder and is a work horse ala Gerrard but is also a goalscoring threat always getting into the box at the right time with smart movement adding an extra threat to the opposition ala Lampard.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
I would favor loaning Coates and Shelvey much more than selling them permanently. I feel 1 year loan at another PL club would do both of them a world of good. Either their fee would increase and we make some more cash in '14 or they impress so much so that they can come back and fight for a spot in the team. Win-Win.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
Ilori will replace Coates. So if a bid comes in for Coates, I can see him being sold.
I'd definitely loan Shelvey. He was our best "young" player in the first half of the year outperforming Suso and Sterling. He went through a poor run of form in the second half, mainly due to inconsistent game time and it seem's as if knee-jerkers are on his back calling him a horrible talent... which is hardly true at all. One of the best prospects at the club.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
I compare Mkhitaryan to Lampard due to their focus/end-game. Both tend to play with their main goal being to create goal scoring opportunities for themselves, rather than creating for teammates (this doesn't mean he DOESN'T create for teammates, just that it's not his primary focus) or breaking up opposing possession or setting the tempo or whatnot.

Well come to think of it again I agree with your comparison with Lampard. With Mkhitaryan's nag for goal scoring & presence in the box or in goal scoring positions he does look much more like Lampard. But with an added advantage which is making defense splitting runs. You can see from most of his goals he makes really really smart runs for goals & really has the nag for latching on to through balls. Imagine the damage he & Coutinho can do!!!

Right, which is why I've consistently said that this move only makes sense to me if Suarez is leaving.
If he's staying I'd rather have another CAM like Coutinho, who's a creator more than a scorer.

I guess from BR's point of view that is also covered with Alberto. . . . As BR said in his interview he wanted 2 of every position. Maybe this is just that.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
A good summary by Neil Jones:
Mignolet to have medical today 9m pounds initial payment +1m add-ons.
Mkhitaryan & Ilori deals negotiations ON-GOING.
Atsu a target.
Wanyama rumors premature but the club like him.
