Italian football is actually above other leagues when it comes to midtable and below. Other leagues are very top heavy because of excessive money but the quality of Italian football is higher.

Actually what I do find questionable on Alonso's selection today is how did he not play Schick at CF. They clearly needed someone to finish upfront or at least offer a physical presence against Atalanta's backline but Alonso opted for speed instead with Adli at CF. Due to the lack of a physical CF the Atalanta defence didnt really feel Leverkusen's attack inspite of the gaping holes they left. Xhaka had the vision to produce opportunities but the lack of a killer edge at the front dulled out any of the opportunities.

Also, not to take away Alonso accolades or anything but I feel Leverkusen being in the final had to do more with Roma messing up than Leverkusen's exploits. Roma found a way back to draw in Germany even without Dybala in play... the own goal was the true demise of Roma.

And furthermore, lets not forget how Atalanta took out Liverpool. Atalanta had at least proven in that game that they definitely had a severe edge in their attack at least in spite of their risque antics at the back.

Atalanta with one of them top top performances, reminds me of us vs Roma, etc... Italian teams often turn it on in these one off matches in Euro? Still, what a flop performance by Lever n Alonso So much for historic unbeaten season, treble etc...

I forgot about this match earlier today and came across Twitter in which Kolisinac apparently never won a trophy until Atalanta today to which had me scratch my head and I was absolutely flabbergasted to see what Atalanta and Lookman did to Xabi's Leverkusen.

I watched the entire match on replay and Im shocked at how hard Atalanta destroyed this team from top to bottom and about time Gasperini gets his well earned trophy and highlight to his unlucky career.

No one not a single person on this forum expected this me included.

And Vibe is right and its more accurate to say Serie A quality is more thinly spread throughout the league compared to all other leagues why two years in a row now two Italian teams have made the Conference league and UEL final in last years case all three competitions.

Xavi said it himself he says Serie B is the best quality in football from the lower leagues and I trust his opinion.

Honestly wasn't too bothered about Atalanta for as underrated as Gasp is he just annoys me and most others.

Fiorentina on the other hand are a team we all love and my heart was broken for them last years final and I will be full support on them v Olympiakos in the Conference final. That is a team like Roma, in desperate need for a big W.

Forgot Lookman is basically English and a Charlton youth product. Always love to see the English succeed in Serie A teams.

Gasperini is a very gritty manager from what Ive seen of him. Plays a dynamic 3-4-3 mostly but adjusts depending on who he has available. He's like an inverted Simeone I feel. Same style but with more emphasis on attack than defense. Just like Simeone, his team looks like a Premier League side when you see them play. Very physically oriented and doesnt prioritize possession of the ball. His defensive line up looks alot like Pep's and thus he has always been subject to recieving goals but also looks to find ways to score. Definitely one I would catalog harboring a high risk, high return philosophy. Finally we see him get a return for those antics.

Didnt even realize n no one cares clearly but Olympiakos won the Conference League in extra time vs Fiorentina

Fiorentina lost the Conference final TWICE in a row now.

Absolute disgrace since I don't know wtf plan Italiano came up with this time it was an awful match.

Fio lost last year in the 90th minute and this time in the 116th.

Perennial final chokers this club needs to be dissolved.
