Very rare you get someone with the mixture of:
a) Natural red hair
b) Afro
c) Pale skin

Crazy dude.

He's still very young and a raw talent, but his quality showed at the end of last season and he was really good at the U19 Asia Cup. Influential, good technically, but also has a powerful shot and strength like Aussies have.

I hope BVB groom him well and I hope he has a good season this year.

Dario Vidosic, what a step down in his career... Really thought he had what it takes to make it in Europe's best leagues. Maybe not the best clubs, but he is too good for A-League...

A star in the A-League > than a non-regular with MSV Duisberg, the worst team in Bundesliga 2.

I think he's a good player, but if he's not getting gametime overseas... he may as well come back. Hopefully he gets a second chance in Europe in the near future. He's still 22 or something.

Bouzanis anywhere yet? Was highly rated when he first arrived at LFC.

Might go watch Victory when season starts. :O

Wonder what is going to happen to David Carney... still doesn't have a club and Michael Zullo is beginning to look good at left back for Australia.

Wonder if he'll return to the A-League or what... Any thoughts?

David Carney has signed a 1 year contract with Spanish side AD Alorcon of Madrid. Alorcon are the team that beat Real Madrid in the Copa 2 years ago Smile

Sydney FC have signed 2 new players: Iraqi winger Ali Abbas from Newcastle and Brazilian fullback Fabio from Melbourne Victory.

Great news... we needed good wide players badly and pace. Fabio was on of Melbourne's best players and will be a revelation, I'm sure. Abbas did a great dribble against Sydney in one game I was at, seems skillful on the ball.

Looking forward to more signings!

SYD FC just signed former Socceroo and Chinese based player Adam Griffiths. He's a very good versatile defender.

Making some good signings finally... Now for some forwards.

Grant - Griffiths - Boss - Fabio
New DM - Antonis
Emerton - Carle - Abbas/Chianese
New Striker

hmm not bad

Sydney FC using Emerton is a winger is just as bad as when Ranieri used Lampard as winger, seriously why spend all that money to bring out such a good player and stick him out of postion, forget then new DM, buy a new winger

Aussie Transfers Thread Empty Aussies Abroad

Mathew Leckie, who is currently contracted with Borussia Mönchengladbach, will be loaned out to FSV Frankfurt for the 2012/13 season. At the 2nd Bundesliga side, he will likely be a starter and get match practice.

How good is this FSV team?

Fair enough that he cant get time at Gladbach... but I'm disappointed he's going to 2nd division. This is where a few Aussie players have already been left to rot. I'm worried he'll suffer a fate like Robbie Kruse who has done nothing at Dusseldorf.

Germany also ruined Vidosic... He helped Nurnberg to promotion and they repaid him by shutting him out.

Hopefully he gets plenty of time. Thats all I care about.

Well, FSV Frankfurt ended up as 13th last season:
http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/spieltag/2-bundesliga/2011-12/spieltag.html

"Wir sind weiter von Mathew überzeugt, sind aber der Meinung, dass für ihn zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt Spielpraxis auf hohem Niveau sehr wichtig ist. Dies bietet ihm und uns FSV Frankfurt", so Mönchengladbachs Sportdirektor Max Eberl. ("We are still convinced of Mathew['s quality], but we think that at the current time it is important for him to get match practice on a high level. This is what FSV Frankfurt offers him", said BMG's sport director Max Eberl.)

At FSV Frankfurt, Mathew Leckie will be able to constantly play on a higher level than with the BMG II team, who only play in the Regionalliga (4th tier).

Posted this in the BMG thread in Rest of World last week Cool
Sounds like a good move for Leckie, but he should consider leaving if he gets loaned out again the season after next.
