Re: Barcelona looking toothless
I am saying you paid 40+M for a player you don't need, and has effected your game seriously, so basically look at it this way, Arsenal didn't win trophies with Fabregas and sold him for 40M and still not winning trophies, nothing changed they just gained 40M out of Barca, Barca on the other hand were winning trophies paid 40M for a player they don't need had to changed the system to fit this player, not winning anymore.worms wrote:baresi wrote:Apparently you also buy from them players that fit the same category!!worms wrote:Well we only sell you players we don't want anymore. But we take your best players off you on a regular basis.Fabergas,Hleb,Henry,Overmars,Song were all one of your best players when 'Big Daddy' Barca came calling.
Also Song was better for you last season than Carzola has been for you this season.Regardless of how much of a success he has been here,he was one of your best players but we took him off you because we wanted to.When we want a player we get him, simple as that.
Wenger: Arsenal don't have a sugar daddy; No problem I'll make Barca our sugar daddy.
Are you saying Arsenal wanted rid of Fabergas? Their best player and talisman?
Who had the better deal? You answer this...

This is getting very weird.
La Liga is the best league in the world. This might come as a shock to you as a resident PL watcher but in La Liga there is actually tactics and defending!!!!!!!!! Shocking I know! Which is why a player like Coutinho won't look anything special in La Liga but turns up in the PL and looks like Maradona!

Re: Barcelona looking toothless
Barca are in a slump and without a coach right now. But as a FOOTBALL fan I refuse to praise Madrid for anything. For Madrid Essien was the player who had the most successful passes: 29 in 90 minutes. Seriously? And you want me to acknowledge Madrid outPLAYING Barcelona?
Coaches like Mourinho who play it save are the reason why high profile cup competitions have become so dull nowadays, be it World Cups, Eurocups or CL knockout games. Sit back, give the opponent the ball and hope to pounce on the break or a set piece to punish errors of adventurous and pro-active teams. Do you know what I would do if I were Barcelona in these games from now on? Just sit back as well with 11 men behind the ball and turn it into a complete borefest. Spain are actually doing this. When their opponents sit back they don't overcommit bodies forward like Barcelona. They just keep their shape and the game turns into a borefest. They rarely get caught out on the break. In 20 something Clasicos Madrid have only managed to genuinely outplay Barcelona for 30 minutes in the Supercopa return leg this season and in the second half of the Copa del Rey semifinal return leg last season. That's all.

awww, poor arsenal fans. All they can do nowadays is bask in other clubs' glory.
No matter what happens to this current Barca side, they've already sealed their place in history, in a good way.
We deserve all the recent defeats, because no team that defends like that deserves to win or be called the best in the world.
Luckily for us, the piggy bank is likely to be cracked open this summer to buy some top class talent.

He was also linked to Juve.Lex wrote:Was there a newspaper strike where you live over winter? Because it was widely reported that he was eagerly pushing for a move to us but was denied by Barca higher ups (for whatever reason)barca 2011 wrote:It may not be just because the fans adore him. I'm sure actually competing for silverware also would have to do with him staying, IF he did. Or going to another club anyways.Lex wrote:Being loved by the fans and being used correctly by the club are two different things. Villa won't stay to be benched and used sporadically in cup games just because the fans adore him
He has enough trophies and medals, if he feels he can continue playing football at the highest level for another 3-4 years or so, but isn't getting a chance to do so, it's not crazy to assume he would sacrifice another league medal or trophy for the chance of playing regular football
