Its perhaps the first time since 2008 from when I have been following Barcelona closely that Barca and Madrid have bid for the very same player and are locked in a head to head battle. Do you all recall any other such occurrence?

This means that if Neymar now chooses Real Madrid he is not a gentleman. Smile

Im not sure, they said they had a verbal agreement, so idk if barcelona actually paid that since its illegal according to fifa.A club can only tie down a player with a "precontract" 6 months before the contract ends

I have to say a pre-agreement or whatever it is was Rosell's genius. Without it we would have no chance now because Real Madrid is offering both higher transfer fee and higher wages.

Madrid has offered to pay the breakup fee for Neymar separate from the transfer fee and the wages... so it doesn't weigh into the equation financially for Neymar.

That said, i think he goes to Barca simply because he plays in the same position as CR7. He would have to move to the right if he were to come to Madrid and i don't think he wants to do that.

Zizou wants Bale, not Neymar anyhow. This is all Flo Perez here.

Very interesting comments. Yes Zidane's current comments indicate that he wants Bale. I think Madrid will anyway buy a top notch center forward. So you all don't really need a superstar wing forward. A worker like Di Maria may not be a bad idea. Having all four of the front players as superstars in their own right can cause problems.

Funny enough saw interview with Laporta a couple weeks àgo. Seemed to imply Man Utd accepted offers from both but Beckham chose Madrid.

Signing Ronaldinho after that was seperate and very well may have happened regardless of Beckham. At leat that's how Laporta seemed to imply.

Interesting. My knowledge is similar except that as far as I know we bought Ronaldinho only after missing out on Beckham. The summer of 2003 shaped the destiny of European football for many years - Beckham to Madrid, Ronaldinho to Barca and Cristiano to ManUtd.

Not just that the fellow makes too many mistakes at crucial times for my liking. Earlier I gave him the allowance that maybe these were one offs but that just cannot hold water any longer.

Hummels today really couldn't cope with the high ball, passing was inaccurate and positioning/marking terribly wrong throughout the game. Too many of these performances this season for my liking...

I swear Subotic is horribly underrated... Pretty much every time I watch Dortmund he is as good, if not better than Hummels. Only think he lacks is Pique-like elegance and adventuring up the park which seems to make Hummels a fan favourite. Since we already have that type of player... No point. Good on Tito for saying no to this transfer.

If I'm not mistaken, Mangala is owned by the same third party investment group as Falcao, which might complicate things on Chelsea's end, though they did bypass this issue with David Luiz last time around. It might be a factor that tips the balance in the favour of a European side should Barcelona's interest prove solid though.
