Arsenal have shown interest in Norwich 'keeper John Ruddy. Norwich have Fraser Forster lined up as a replacement if he leaves #AnonymousFC

Johan Djourou update
Hannover Manager Schmadtke: "We wanted an option to buy, but Arsenal didn't agree to it."
Loan deal until end of season.
Coach Slomka: "He will be a tremendous reinforcement."

I'm glad we didn't put an option to buy on Djourou, he's a great 4th choice to have.
Never understood the hate towards him either...he went through a bad sspell, but before his injury, he was integral part to our unbeaten run a while back.
Ain't gonna pay too much attention to the Villa rumours, I'll just end up getting depressed that we couldn't sign him

Totally agree. Decent player, seems to be pretty professional too. Unfairly maligned and dismissed - especially for his performances out of position.

You couldn't have picked worse sources lol.
Getting hopes up to be disappointed
Arsenal paying 16m for someone over the age of 30
Never learning from previous pain
Paying his wages
Villa leaving for a Europa League adventure

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
There are a couple reasons why Villa, or someone like him, might make a good exception to Wenger's usual avoidance of over-30 players:
(1) adapting to a new country & league is not always a small thing, but Villa has tremendous quality and would probably be able to contribute goals right away;
(2) the fact that he'd be less than a long-term investment could help smooth a transition in the squad for a couple of the young Arsenal forwards coming up, who wouldn't be quite ready to take up a regular spot in the senior squad in the next year (e.g. hopefully one or more of Afobe, Akpom, Campbell, etc).
If there's any truth to these reports about Arsenal & Villa, my main - albeit minor - concern isn't with his age or his capability but instead if the qualities he brings may not match the particular qualities Arsenal most need right now. If Theo's going to get more match time up top, I think we'd want a good, proven player who enjoys being on the flank. But that all said, you don't dismiss someone of Villa's ability, and if Barca are reluctant to sell that's actually a good sign. You usually want to buy the players that other clubs don't want to part with, right?

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
When you look how quickly the likes of David Silva, Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla have adapted to the Premier League, I don't think David Villa would have any problems. There would be aspects he wouldn't be overly familiar with, but someone of his quality would be able to overcome that. In addition, Premier League defending is so bad right now that even if he was struggling to settle, he'd probably still score goals.
It's probably not going to happen, in any case. Or, at least, I'd be very surprised if it happened, because even though Wenger has leaned towards older, established players recently, it's not like him to sign a player without giving what he has adequate chances first. Giroud has been here for a few months and Walcott has played four or five games down the middle; not an adequate length of time to prove themselves in Wenger's eyes, I don't think.
I also wonder if Wenger would be so ready to play Walcott on the right wing again if it doesn't work out, having spent so much time promising Walcott he'd get opportunities to play there and how Wenger is convinced he will succeed there.
All that being said...

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
I have to agree with Mole here, I dont believe we would offer that kind of money for Villa.
Wenger wants on loan move and Barcelona must pay 90% wage, but Barcelona want to sell only.
I dont believe in the Arsenal board and Wenger anymore.
