Meh, we lowballed Ajax to oblivion to get him for 6....can't complain tbh at 3m. We re-couped at least half his fee.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours pt. II
Viviano as well apparently.
No complaints from me if we get one or the other as they are more experienced than Rafael.

true but if we manage to get 1m 2 more we might manage to keep bertolacci instead of letting him go for 4m (Benatia(Lets say valued 11M)=7m+bertolaacci) or at least to save 50% of bertolaacci's contract

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours pt. II
Mourinho wants DDR as he wanted him at RM too , seemingly he is about to leave . not sure what to think , he has'nt been like himself in the last year and wasnt at his best after spal era but still he is an icon to the club and finding replacement wont be easy

Similar things were said of Goicoechea IIRC.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours pt. II
Stek to Fulham nearly a done deal. Terms have been agreed between the player and club as well as between Roma and Fulham. Only missing the official announcement now.
And yes, we are close to Mehdi Benatia, RG. 7m plus 50% of the rights to Andrea Bertolacci appears to be enough to lure him away from Udine.

Meanwhile, Roma are also said to be close to Santos goalkeeper Rafael, which frees Maarten Stekelenburg to join Fulham.
Dutch international Stekelenburg is expected to put pen to paper at Craven Cottage by Tuesday.
Both would be wonderful. They really would. Benatia is class and brazilians have always found it easy in Roma. Rafael is young and he really cant do worse than Stek.
Brilliant signing should it happen.
Torosidis......................Marcus.....................Benatia.......................Balzaretti
Quality back line right there.

Rafael is much more experienced at younger age + has won already with Santos. Also younger.
And also,
the backline with Torosidis and Balzarett doesnt sound so fantastic.. both too old and never looked really that good under Roma. We need an improvement in that deparment.
Also, I wonder who will replace Osvaldo?

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours pt. II
^ I'm holding out for Marco Sau....
I'd be surprised though...More then likely we just get Borriello back...Couldn't do much worse then Osvaldo, and seems more like a team guy...Never stole a PK from Totti....
Just pizzaro...

Awaiting the new manager for confirmation of Benatia and Naingollan, two good signings.
Stekelenburg is confirmed out for 5.6 million, glad to hear that.
Rafael rumours are continuing, along with Viviano and Sorrentino to be his backup.
Up front I'm hoping for Sau, but also would like us to attempt landing Mario Gomez. Spurs are reportedly offering 8 million euros which would be a great deal imo. Napoli and Fiorentina are also interested.

Yes, I agree on Naingolan and Benatia. Very spot on signings. For the goalkeeper squat to be honest im hoping on Viviano. I like him, he is not that old and he has plenty of experience.
Gomez for 8m? Are you kidding, we should get him.

Gomez for 8m would be a epic deal. Finally we would have someone who could put away all those chances..

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours pt. II
Gomez is stone cold in front of the box, but I dunno. He's a target man and not a prima punta. Can he grind it out with Serie A defenders who would show him less respect than Buli defenders? Not sure about that at all. For 8m though? I'm sure as well willing to find out.
Nainggolan and Benatia are indeed great deals, but who's going to make way for them? I'm thinking Burdisso will be let go in defense and with Taxi as good as gone, that leaves a spot in midfield that will obviously be seen as an upgrade with Nainggolan possibly slotting in there. Could be a very fierce central midfield battle for spots. A lot will depend on what happens with De Rossi.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours pt. II
That 8 million was Tottenham's offer, Bayern's demands are around 25 million, while Fiorentina are not willing to spend more than 20.
The problem with Benatia is that he excels in a 3-man defense. He can't play as a full back in a 4 man back line which creates a problem and provokes the question: is he worth it?

I would love for Gomez to replace the ungrateful Osvaldo, and it'd be a huge step up in class, but if Levy was able to somehow get Gomez for 8 million they should make a statute in his honor.

il Romanista reporting that Garcia may possibly persuade Lille's young starlet Lucas Digne to join him in Rome.
Kid has mad skill and is wanted by several large clubs. Doesn't appear to have the attitude of Menez as well.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours pt. II
First 2 look like definite smokescreens.
Our relationship with Cellino could be a real problem with the Nainggolan link as well though. He has seem relatively open to the move tbf.
As for other news - Lucas Digne will either go to PSG or Monaco at this point and Rafael is now close to Napoli.
