Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Huh?
But yeah... Mou's employed that 4-3-3 with fantastic success...
And he's made his full-backs provide the width.
Porto: Paulo Fareira
Chelsea: Ashley Cole
Inter: Maicon
Madrid: Marcelo
And, IMHO, Marcelo is the best dribbler in the world, so I think he can provide that width on the left flank that we want...
Plus, Ronaldo pretty much plays wherever he pleases and can do that job...
Sort of like Redondo once did many years ago (without the defensive duties)

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Don't play Ozil on the wing. He's useless there.

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Wait, so this deal is actually happening? Unless Ozil is being sold or moved wide where no sane manager would play him this transfer doesn't seem needed. I was on Redcafe where people said Modric would be played next to Alonso which made me lol, stupidest thing I have ever heard. This seems like a depth signing to me, maybe rotate Ozil and Modric? But paying that much money for someone who's gonna be used for squad rotation doesn't make sense either. Sahin 2.0?

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Modric has reportedly already agreed to a four-year, €152,000-a-week (€7.9 million-per-year) contract, as his pursuit of Champions League glory inches ever closer.

That team has zero width, and Mou does like his wingers
Play with no striker with Ronaldo and Benzema as false wingers.
Okay I'm getting the bigger picture now. Ozil would play as a False 9 of some sorts. Not his best position but he has the ability to play there and he would rack up assists for Benz and CR
Regardless i dont see Yaya coming over, unfortunately

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
I am really affraid that mou might be going to 4-3-1-2 (inter like formation).
with kehdira and modric as BTB and Alonoso as DLP, with ozil in the middle and ronaldo and benz as strikers.
its a good formation and all, but i just dont like it, it lacks width in both defensive and offensive areas.

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Ozil can still play at RW. He played well there last season imo. At RW he would play similar to how Iniesta did for Spain and how he did last season, coming inside with the fullbacks providing width.

Not as up as Messi plays. Modric, Xabi and Yaya will control the tempo, and Ozil will come with the final pass for either Benz and Ronaldo who come from the wings. Ozil can change positions with Modric during the match. But for this formation, we would need a more attacking RB, but Arbeloa might be ok. Marcelo would have more freedom too.

He was too inconsistent at RW. He's a central player and should be played there.

What an insightful post. Have you seen marcelo actually play? He also started out as a winger (more of a left midfielder really) during his first years.

Some of the dribbles he does in this video are ABSOLUTELY incredible. As a madrid fan I can assure you he does this pretty much every game.

I'm not the biggest Marcelo fan, but his dribbling skills are undeniably spectacular.

Marca:
Meanwhile, Modric wastes no time. As reported yesterday BRAND, the player takes days by contacting colleagues and acquaintances who have been linked to Real Madrid to gather information. It's about going forward work on, mainly, to his life in the capital.
With his future almost solved, now the player crosses fingers for the transaction to close before next Wednesday July 18, the date on which must be incorporated into the season with Tottenham, dispute that day and his first friendly match against Stevenage.
The next step is delayed if the agreement will be mounted on the plane to the U.S. tour of the English side, which starts the 24-J.

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Marca:
Tottenham is certain that Modric will not continue with them another year. Questions left just a month ago, when he passed into Croatian by a tempting offer that would win the double of 50,000 euros per week (3.2 million per year) to 100,000 (6.4 million per season).
4.5 million a year and a five-year contract offered by the Madrid.

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
AS: "I saw at Modric at Euro 2012 and also at Tottenham.
"He is a player who loves the club and us. I wish to close the deal as quickly as possible if it is for the good of the team."
Madrid full-back Alvaro Arbeloa had earlier expressed similar sentiments.
"Modric is a great player," Arbeloa said. "I'm happy that he may sign for Real Madrid. We have lots of good midfielders, so he will have to compete with them to earn his place."
Centre-back Pepe added: "I know he's a good player."

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Dinamo Zagreb president Zdravko Mamic claims that Real Madrid's interest in Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric is concrete.
The club supremo revealed that the 26-year-old, who spent five seasons on the books of the Croatian outfit, is the subject of constant contact from Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.
"Luka [Modric] is a close friend of mine. I can state with reliability that Mourinho has spent the last month speaking to him over a move to the Spanish capital," Mamic told Sportske Novosti.
"I've heard the signing will be done, and am very happy that a person and a player like Modric can project the name of Dinamo and Croatia at the world's most famous club, which is Real Madrid."

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Marca:
Luka Modric has not trained with the rest of his teammates on the first day of work which is still his club, Tottenham Hotspur. The Croatian was quoted on Thursday as the other organizations that participated in the Euro, the Spurs Lodge training center of the London club. Modric was presented, I greet peers and Andre Villas Boas, new coach 'spur', but I just spent two hours in the complex.
Croatian midfielder wore no short or exercised by the rest of the squad. Was presented, as required, with the first workout of the season was 12-13 for the above, which was limited to greet his teammates and his coach, Villas Boas, who this summer completed the move from Stamford Bridge to White Hart Lane.
Two hours after arriving at Spurs Lodge, Chigwell, Modric left the premises, while his comrades continued their work day. The Croatian kept his hand while progress continues on its way out of the English club.

Re: Mr Agile - Luka Modric
Marca:
Luka Modric is tightening the rope to seal his move to Real Madrid. The last act of defiance of the Croatian player has been staying in London as Tottenham travel to the USA for a short tour under his preseason.
The Croatian player did not appear at London's Heathrow airport to catch a plane with the rest of his companions to noon. Nor did there or presented at the Sports City, where he had previously mentioned to the players to move together to the airport.
Modric has definitely decided to take radical action and force the Spurs to facilitate his departure. The player wants to wear white next season and everything will be necessary on their part to do so. For now, the Spurs already know that the position of player sign and there's no going back. They should sell it or yes. And the Madrid waiting impatiently.
