A Euro 2012 section?
How about a Euro 2012 section?

Re: A Euro 2012 section?
Already tried sections for individual tournaments. They don't get a lot of attention. Most threads end up in the Gen Section. It'll likely happen with this one too.

Re: A Euro 2012 section?
Maybe if the section was on top of the general section on the homepage, until the tournament ended, it could be more active maybe?
I think if there was a rule saying everything related to Euro 2012 has to be in the section, it should work.
If there was a separate section then people could post individual match discussion threads, news etc etc. If it's in the general section then it would kinda look cluttered.

Well I definitely agree with you and would get behind making a section for the Euros, but I'll see what the other Admins think of this.

Re: A Euro 2012 section?
I don't see a problem with it being in the general section.
The seasons over. The general section will have not much football related other than rumors, transfers, and threads about C.Ronaldo not signing shirts for little girls.
For all intents and purposes, the general section becomes a Euro 2012 section most likely.
IF there is a Euro 2012 section created AND people actually use it, then the general section will also be mostly vacant for the time being (cause what is there to really talk about?)
I think it's kind of redundant to have a Euro 2012 section when the general section will naturally just become the Euro 2012 section for the time being.
Oh, and I doubt people would use it much
Just my thoughts.

I'd say stick with the general section because then that would mean an extra tab I'd have to manage

Re: A Euro 2012 section?
If you move all the Euro-related threads to International football, wouldn't that be the same as a "euro section"?

Re: A Euro 2012 section?
International section has old threads and threads from teams which aren't in Europe. A section for Euro 2012 makes it more organised. Besides, I'm not sure many people visit the International section.

And this is somehow an argument FOR creating another section that likely won't be visited?mtfootball wrote:International section has old threads and threads from teams which aren't in Europe. Re: A Euro 2012 section?
if you put that section ahead of general discussion people will use it
people dont use international section cause it comes down to mind that it is only to present infos about each country's squad and starting XIs
a euro 2012 would attract a lot of people considering the fact that each matchday people would discuss outcomes & fixtures in that section
but if it requires a lot job to do then i pass on the other hand if it is just press a button and done
why no do it?
the idea of putting it ahead of general discussion would make it active for sure

I'm with RedOranje on this one, people will continue using the general section anyway, leave it there, there's no club football at the moment...

That section has threads from teams which aren't in Europe. Renaming it/using it for Euro's doesn't really look right. Having an individual section for Euro 2012 on top of the General discussion temporarily will mean it's used, since Euro 2012 will be the main thing within a few days.
In terms of the general section not being used, well it shouldn't be, since having Euro threads kinda makes it cluttered. People may still want to discuss club football and football from countries which aren't in Europe.

Re: A Euro 2012 section?
Why does it only have to be about the Euros? It fits under international football, it's an international competition. I fail to see how"it doesn't look right".

Having a dedicated section for the Euros shows it's something big. Yeh it's international teams, however that section is for teams all around the World. It doesn't really look right dumping the Euro's in a section where the discussion isn't just about the Euros.

Re: A Euro 2012 section?
Solution: Use the international football forum, move all euro-related threads there, and rename it "Euro 2012 & International football". Rename it back to International football when the competition is done.
Does that sound agreeable?

This.
But it will still end up dying like any other section bar the clubs and general section.

Yeh that sounds alright. Also it should be moved on top of the general section.

A space after 'Euro 2012' followed by the slash?
