We can only hope... M'Villa, Podi, and Giroud would be exceptional signings for us this summer...
Yes, but just those three is not a successful transfer season. We are still short of some varsatility. And we need to move quite a few players on, who are restricting our hand in wages. Plus we have those contracts which need tieing up. And ensure we aren't in the same situation next summer again with players on the final years of their contracts. Still lots to address this summer. And with Euros and the international trips to Africa and Asia, makes you wonder how we are going to accomplish this.
Agreed. Still lots to do this summer. But, if you look at our situation in previous years... I'd argue that we are off to a great start so far this summer (well, assuming that we DO end up getting Giroud and M'Villa). Still, the fact that these rumors are so strong and that we have already tied up Podolski this early is big... Lest we forget the disaster that was last summer

Why would we sign van der Wiel, even Djourou defends better as a RB

Not just that match, if you check van der Wiel's development over the years you can see how little he has improved since he was 19. Poor man's Kyle Walker tbh.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
Wenger said on French TV station TF1: "Giroud didn't play much (at the Euros so far), but he's going to be an Arsenal player 90 per cent next season. I think he has exceptional potential and will integrate very well in our collective and our way of playing. He is a real team player and knows how to combine with other players and I'm sure he will do well with us.''
"Podolski did a great job for the German team, he has superb team work,'' Wenger added. "He plays in a cautious way sometimes, but he's still scored a very important goal against Denmark for his 100th cap. I am very happy with what I've seen from him.''

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
How does he perform at Ajax? Honestly, the Dutch team looked terrible as a unit... So it's unfair to group him in with that. Plus, Heitinga and Vlaar are awful CB's... Really, their defense as a whole is just mediocre

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
Giroud deal is done IMO, Wenger wouldn't say: "He will do well with us" if it wasn't.
Now secure M'Vila.

Jamie Sanderson @YoungGunsBlog
Nicklas Bendtner's exit from Arsenal moving closer. New agent Tom Brooks says talks ongoing with 'several clubs'. Màlaga linked.
Màlaga will probably pay more than 10mln for him. It makes sense since they're after Vela aswell.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
I disagree. Signing Podolski, Giroud, and M'Vila would be a perfect transfer window IMO. There won't be a single position we don't have at least a couple of players that are good enough.srigooner wrote:gunner1987 wrote:Diego Armando Maradona wrote: my source worked for base soccer (agency service), news international, and ipc media, got confirmation from m'vila's agent. GK: Szczesny, Fabianski (if he stays), Mannone/Shea/Martinez/McDermott
RB: Sagna, Jenkinson, Yennaris
CB: Koscielny, Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Djourou, Bartley/Miquel
LB: Gibbs, Santos, Botelho?, Henderson
CM: Wilshere, Song, Arteta, M'Vila, Rosicky, Diaby, Ramsey, Coquelin, Frimpong/Lansbury, Eisfeld/Ozyakup?
RW/LW: Walcott, Podolski, Gervinho, AOC, Arshavin, Miyaichi, Watt?
ST: RvP, Giroud, Chamakh, Campbell/Afobe, Podolski/Walcott
Our GKs are very good. We have tall, aggressive and technical players in defence. We have CMs who can go forward and defend. We have firepower all along the front line. This team has everything IMO. The only way to improve it would be to sell players and buy better ones, but really none of the guys I've listed except for arguably a few (Arshavin, Chamakh, maybe Djourou and Fabianski if they want to go) deserve to be disposed of, and even those few I'd personally keep.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
I would personally sell: Diaby, Denilson, Bendtner, Arshavin, Chamakh, Park, Vela AND Fabianski (only if he wants to).
And get: M'Vila, Giroud, Benayoun, Dempsey and Baines. If Fabianski goes get Gordon.
Team would be:
GK: Szczesny, Fabianski (Gordon), Martinez
RB: Sagna, Coquelin, Jenkinson
CB: Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Djourou
LB: Baines, Gibbs, Santos
DM: M'Vila, Frimpong
CM: Wilshere, Song, Arteta
AM: Rosicky, Dempsey, Ramsey
RW: Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain
LW: Podolski, Gervinho, Benayoun
ST: RvP, Giroud, Campbell
First team:
And having guys like Giroud, Dempsey, Rosicky, The Ox, Mertesacker, Arteta, Coquelin on the bench would make our team super-strong.
