Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
So the 12m clause was a load of rubbish then?

Why would he respond when he could easily double his wages and play in a superior league?

He's on good terms with Montpellier... very thankful that he was given the opportunity to shine. The clause forces Monpellier to sell him if that minimum amount is met. Giroud himself will not move unless Montpellier gets at least 18 mil from what i heard. If they don't but meet the clause, he's asked Montpellier to match the wages offered and he'd stay for one more year.
But it's moot since people have already gotten to around 20.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
i call bullshit, first of all, spurs are not in the cl so he would never move there anyway. secondly if bayern actually did offer that much, then he would be a bayern player already. what is the reason for him or his club to turn the offer down? people say he didnt want to go to bayern because of the competition from gomez, but that is BS!!! because there is no top club in the world that does not have a decent striker already. if he is worried so much about competition then he should stay at Montpelier, he clearly isnt ready for a top club if he has that kind of mentality.
arsenal is by farrr the best club for him, with or without rvp. i highly doubt rvp will have as much games as he did last season, so we will be needing another striker to bang the goals in. if guired came to arsenal im confident he would get plenty of games. 18mill to 20 mill would get him. im confident of this. he has only had one good season in a top level ffs

£12.8m release clause heavily well-known. Nicollin already confirmed.
Spurs offered 20m euros for Remy, not Montpellier.
Bayern? They in negotiations for Dzeko.

* Didn't put Chelsea and Spurs because article says Spurs wants Remy, Chelsea focusing on Hulk.

It's not bullshit. He actually commented on Bayern in an interview a few weeks ago. He just wants to start and wouldn't with Gomez there.... so he's waiting for all offers.
Specifically, he was rumored to be waiting on Juve and United. Malaga officially expressed interest too. Arsenal just jumped into the picture.
He'll look at all his offers after the Euro and pick the best one.
I guarantee you he will go for around 20 mil.

Hard to believe any news that is coming out and we should not think what Sport is saying is bullshit, everything we have heard over 100pg has been bullshit.

18-20mill is fine for me, but if it goes to 25+ then we should forget about him and go else where, he isnt worth that much.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
No way he gets 25 mil. If he does, it's crazy. But 18-20 mil is the correct amount.
Malaga might make some crazy bid though.

Replace van Persie with Giroud? We're f*cked up I must say. As much as I rate Giroud he doesn't fit that high-profile striker to replace van Persie.

Well just who would be a high-profile striker that could replace van Persie?

Higuain, Cavani, Falcao, Ibrahimovic, Hulk (not a striker but still) etc... I expect our board to not sell van Persie in any case but I'm fearing the worst.

Not sure if this should be taken as a 'YES, we've secured a top talent and are that much closer to convincing RVP to stay'
or
'YES, we've got a decent replacement for RVP'

Now confirmed by super reliable @GrooverBlog & @JamieDalton82
Looks like this Giroud REALLY will be a gunner soon.

Yeah. The rumor is that Montpellier would get Chamakh and 12 million. Good deal for Arsenal if this happens.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
Let's look at it this way: if van Persie does leave, we will be, hopefully, securing a replacement early on in the transfer window, and not flandering about towards the end and panicing about replacing our best player. I take that as a step in the right direction.
If van Persie does go and we do sign Giroud, I still think we would need another striker. Possibly Joel Campbell, if he can get a work permit.

exactly. we cant sit on our hands, hoping for a player to stay. we needed to be proactive and secure talent regardless of van Persie's status.
one monkey shouldn't stop this show. if van Persie cant make up his mind on whether he will stay or leave we cant wait for him to do it.

Any source of this mate?
Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
I'd like to also offer that this isn't a bad deal for Montpellier if they can coax Chamakh out of his shell then they've got a decent threat and we've finally got a lethal striker. I also love his versatility, he's strong, aerially dominant, can shoot from distance and has deceptively good vision for passing.
