Nil-Nil. Terribly boring game.
Recreativo should be ashamed, parked the bus at their home against a 20 year old squad that is lower on the table than them.

JDS and Sergi Gomez were atrocious during the first half, but recovered on the second. Rafinha, Rodri, Espinosa and Roberto were very invisible (though Espinosa is class!).

On the bright side, Bartra was immense. Looks like he is maturing and perhaps he is no longer transparent. Carlas Planas very solid. Deulofeu was our best attacker but couldn't decide.

Recreativo had a good winger called Javier Alamo, who I didn't know, 23 years old.

This week's highlights. Not much to comment. Rafinha had a good chance from a Montoya pass 1:25 and Oier had some good saves. Best player on the pitch Recreativo's 23.

Tello just gave even more credibility to Barca's philosophy of nurturing Cantera and trusting canteranos before going to market. We have Villa and Afellay injured, Pedro out of form, Alexis on and of of injuries, with only Messi being a constant in the attacking line, and we do not buy a new attacker like most clubs would do. We turn to our canteraons, Tello and Cuenca. And even if they are not Villa, they did they job exceptionally well.

I am so proud of Barcas way of dealing with these issues. In 2 years, we already have 3 youth players who are now known and desired by different big clubs, Thiago, Cuenca and Tello. Not to mention a number of other players that got the chance to play with first team, and did a great job.

I think neutrals were thinking Barca was just lucky to have a good generation from cantera. The time shows that if we keep this model, we will always have great talents coming from our youth ranks... talents that will keep Barca as one of the top clubs (if not the best club) for many years to come.

There is nothing lucky about youth production, only fools would believe that.

Yes some talents are above others, some generations of talents are above others, but we will consistently continue to have talented kids because the education they have now is top quality and they are learning things, most other kids simply arent.

Couldn't watch this week's game. We tied 0-0 again at Sabadell. Here the highlights:

Seems Deulofeu was again the most dangerous player. He took part in all dangerous plays but one: 0:49 dribles on the left, Balliu shots on the right; 1:23 great pass from Dos Santos, Deulofeu shoots well on the one-on-one but GK saves; 2:00 dribles from the right and death pass that we can't tap in because little angle; 2:10 launches counterattack and Rafinha hits hte post.

Also at 1:09 pass from Gomez, Riverola can't lob.

Oier did some nice saves and I see that Armando and Gomez were caught in behind a couple of times, as usual.

Btw, very bad reaction from Deulofeu after Rafinha hit the post. Shameful, he really is a CR understudy. Needs to kick out this attitude issues.

Mino was the preferred keeper in Enrique's last year (though rotated with Oier). He's been injured, but even before that he wasn't playing week in, week out.

Masip got plenty of chances and now Oier has been given a run and is performing well.

Free, any idea on where the keepers stand? Originally Oier was preferred as a future investment, then Mino seemed sure to be more likely... now it seems its back to Oier again. Wtf is happening?

Who is better?

Well, Oier seems to have improved a lot. He has a great physique to be a good GK, is very good with his feet. Plus, he has been renewed and will probably be the third GK next season in the first team. So he seems to have definitely edged Miño.

I never knew who of the two of them was a better GK, but I think that now it's clearly Oier.

Jordi Masip, I would just say that he is a bit short for an elite coach, but I haven't watched him much to be fair with him.

On the other hand, in Juvenil A there is Miguel Bañuz, who is the brightest GK prospect of them all. He is 1,85, has great reflexes and is very composed. Is touted as the "new casillas", but he has better game with his feet thant Iker, who is an old school GK.

La Masia - Page 12 Empty Barça B Highlights (5 matches).

Post by free_cat Sat Mar 17, 2012 6:39 pm

Barça B highlights.

Last game:

We played: Oier, Balliu - Bartra - Muniesa - Planas; JDS - Riverola - Roberto; Lobato - Rodri - Rafinha
Deulofeu injured from the twisted ankle he picked last week, will be back next game.
Nice goal from free kick from JDS. This guy is rotting in 2a.
Girona's goal is a mistake from Oier, who should have rushed from goal and clear the through ball. He had time enough, but hesitated and decided to stay on goal. Anyway, he made a couple of good saves again.

3-2 final result. Femenia and Roberto x 2.
Could only watch since the 3-0 and only saw bad play and leaks in defence. 'Sad

Second Alcorcón goal was very unlucky though, I was afraid they'd even throw 2 points away in the dying seconds.

I only saw the second half but they seemed to just get complacent (edit: or possibly tired) after the 3-0. Second goal was unlucky for us.

Here this week's highlights:

Positives: Femenía having two chances running in behind, Roberto's two nice goals, Deulofeu link-up with Femenia, Oier saves and Riverola's passes (a pity he signed for Bologna).

Negatives: Armando mistakes and bad marking; Montoya mistake.

Grimaldo is going to be a gem of a LB, you can already tell at 15 years old.

This play is what made me give in to Khaleds hype. His movements are Alves-esque, the way he passes the ball and gets into position to receive the pass again, I know this is basic stuff at La Masia though.
