Re: Formula 1 Season 2012
I'm really not liking Red Bull advantage over any other car,Vettel will just win poles and win races without even being challenged for the rest of the season.GET IN THERE FERRARI FFS...
Also the late second pit probably cost Alonso 2nd place. He was 1.5 sec behind Webber and came out of the box 4 seconds off.Red Bull is just a superior team in every aspect to Ferrari.Only advantage Ferrari have is obviously a superior driver, but that doesn't mean much when they keep putting him in a slower car.

i wouldn't say Red Bulls have the best car this year. Ferrari and Mclaren are as good this year if not better. But Vettel and Webber have been excellent in their driving.
The last year Red Bulls are miles better then everyone but not this year

They have now...They are 0.5 second qualifying pace off any other car.Ferrari have been on the level of Lotus this year, and McLaren had the quickest car overall but it's been so unreliable that it's worth nothing.

Well, what the foreign media (outside of Germany, that is) rarely publish is the fact that Sebastian Vettel spends hours after each training session and between the races with his engineers to fine-tune everything while other drivers seem to be more occupied with either twitter or their girlfriends

ye i agree, its amazing that vettel is very attentive to details. even during the practice, after every runs he would or wants a feedback from race engineer rocky and studies and does his homeworks.
he also visited pirelli factory, but it has nothing to do with studying tires in details ofcourse but seb is always inquisitive... thats a very good quality to have as a racing driver.

mclaren had the best car in the beginning of the season, then they fell a bit in development race, then they brought near b-spec package in germany, and in hungary they were mighty quick, and now they are having some serious series of reliability issues.
going on and on... this is something mclaren always always have....

red bull didnt have best car, i think mclaren had best car, but red bull always keep coming with updates, and lets say 90% of their updates always work... or they make it work they understand it. their updates are may be small or big but they are extremely attentive to details and they push the borderline or limit in terms of their design philosophy. they know exactly what they are doing.
newey is a great designer, and with him in the team we know damn well what kind of quality he brings but i also admire peter prodomou their chief aerodynamicists, who always claw back downforce they have lost due to new restriction imposed by FIA. they always find a way. one way or another.
very different to other teams in the grid.
i am also amazed with ferrari, i thought they were finished but they fought back making their team competitive enough, thats the greatest quality of a great f1 team.
only red bull mclaren and ferrari has this quality...

@JespSwe
I wonder how much of Red Bull's steady improvements is actually due to Sebastian Vettel's feedback and input for Adrian Newey and whether that is what is lacking at McLaren with Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. I haven't found much information if the McLaren drivers many do not give input of sufficient high quality to the engineers or if the engineers simply lack.
In the German media I repeatedly read that the engineers where very happy that Seb Vettel is very much interested in the technology and gives very useful feedback, while I can't remember seeing such comments about the two British drivers. (Although this might be because the British press seems to be more interested in reporting stuff from their drivers' non professional antics - so the picture might be skewed due to the focus of the media's reporting. But it is true one hears more about Hamilton's relationship with that celebrity singer or visits in the McLaren box of other celebs than where Hamilton does help the team with car development.)
Actually I would find that very interesting.

Alonso...Freaking amazing.
So sad he doesn't have a car as good as Vettel.
Massa and Raikkonen How do you even manage to stay in less than 1 second difference the whole race....

sorry for the late reply , rwo power been busy lately. what i can say is that, as much as not just seb but any driver's feedback whether thats top driver or not, their feedback is important, for their respective engineers to collect as much information from both drivers and cars for analysis, but driver's feedback can only improve lets say... improve driving of driver's liking, driving characteristics... but not quite performance. thats for adrian and his technical colleagues, aerodynamicists mechanical engineers, they are more important people in the team to make car faster. driver alone cant make car faster.
im pretty sure adrian listens to what seb has to say, where seb feels he is not gaining so much time he wants, and adrian and his colleagues will look at the data well race engineers actually so his race engineer Guillaume Rocquelin (rocky) will have a nice chat with seb on what is required in car, where he finds pace, whether he has grip or downforce he wanted, all those tuning stuffs will be done with rocky, then rocky, will write all the reports, and then pass it to tech. director which is adrian newey. since newey is involved in track and factory, adrian will get in touch possibly with his other technical heads, namely ... peter prodoumou (red bull senior aerodynamicist) to work on where performance is required...
so basically there is a connection between driver-race-engineer-tech director-aerodynamicist. its the same with every team.. not just with seb.
why seb is so good?.... because he gets to job done in the track without mistakes there is one another thing that seb has that no other driver in the grid has... or atleast i havent seen except him... focusing, concentration on details... details of track!!! seb does it all the time... he knows where he can find grip when to attack kerb, gets clean exit, seb is very good in track details.... he is really good in where to put his car .. in right place at right time... ofcourse the car reacts to his liking... , while adrian is a genius and he always finds a way to make car faster all the time, by putting details, changes, upgrades into car whether thats substantial or minimal, red bull always brings performance enhancing upgrades all the time every race, or changes in car depending upon track.
their working philosophy is very different to other teams, and adrian is namely known to design car pushing the boundary of the rules to make the car better, faster.
lot of team complain that red bull are now out of RRA and spending money as much as they like (which is somewhat true) but i think other teams are just overly jealous of red bull performance. if red bull are designing cars and pushing the limits, they should be doing the same and not complain about whats in their car, or thats legal thats illegal, it's got to stop!
but i somehow feel that its true that red bull have more spending freedom, so they can afford to bring upgrades pretty much every race because they have resources and enough people to bring performance-enhancing upgrades every race...

ferrari had a good straightline speed in that race.. i heard something like they might have turned up the rev of the engine to max to get more power, but in massa's car fuel consumption was in critical stage...
i think alonso is no doubt a deserved champion even if he doesnt win. we know once adrian gets the car right, seb will get the rest of the job done. so at this point i would say seb will win championship. now he has won races in is it 3 consecutive races??? alonso blew points after crash in Japan so... i think his title chances atm is kaput... now it will depend upon ferrari to bring performance related upgrades...
.. speaking of that, i am hearing rumours that ferrari might get their own DDRS ... but that this point of the season it might be too late for ferrari...

Re: Formula 1 Season 2012
@rwo power.. oh i forgot to say... the fall of mclaren recent performance has nothing to do with driver's feedback. mclaren did bring some huge upgrades in germany, spa, it served them well for few races but then they had reliability problems... i mean so many.... for couple of races now, they are having so many reliability problems ...
even without reliability issues, i think mclaren now has fallen a bit down maybe 0.3 s ... from red bull ... possibly as red bull has brought their own version of DDRS and has served them well...
its not just DDRS that has improved red bull... they have had nose upgrades, front wing upgrades, and other mechanical upgrades too.

Vettel starting on the back of the grid
Title back on...There also seem to be rumors about engine trouble, and this is Vettel's last engine before a 10 grid penalty. Now Alonso just needs to get past that 1st corner, and hopefully progress in the race as he usually does.
I'm super thrilled about this one...

Re: Formula 1 Season 2012
that race was insane at Abu Dhabi... great action, wheel-to-wheel battle, looked like Vettel day was finished after starting from pitlane, they changed car ride height and other settings, but with senna contact he had to just go with damaged front wing, in safety car he damaged his front wing pretty badly, then he made up for it, and second safety car played perfectly in his hand lol....
i cant be much happier for vettel, plus kimi did fantastic job... omg so funny listening to his team radio... his race engineer asking him to heat tires, raikkonen shouting back,"I know what I am doing!", then later informed Alonso is Closer, he replies," I know what that car is, dont radio me... i will radio you" lol !! so funny.... basically kimi telling his race engineer to stfu and dont disturb unless something is wrong with car lol.
boy he got the job done! first win for lotus since senna days in 80s.
poor alonso, looked like everything was working his way, with webber slipping back, then hamilton's electronic failure, lol RB8 catched him up almost eventually lol..
but great drive from vettel too, especially move on button was just class act!!
at this point i am gonna say seb will win the championship... he gets the job done! and he has got perfect car to do it...
some reckless driving too, maldonaldo again, dont know how he escaped penalty. webber..... i feel sorry for him, that actually maldonado should have got penalty, he didnt... then poor webber asked to come to pit and wrong timing, then got stuck on grosjean-di resta-perez train, got taken out...
but webber was frustrated, he wasnt patient enough to take out opponents at right time... all at wrong timing..
and mclaren how many reliability issue they have to have... the last time they had this much of reliability issues, was in 2003 or 2004... or in 2005.. car was great, kimi in total domination until last min. something not working in car... all hard work for nothing...
great race... was chaos everywhere..
austin ... cant wait...

I juz couldn't believe Vettel ended up 3rd.
Lucky feck he is... But Alonso won't give up, it's juz a shame the Ferrari ain't even near the pace of Red Bull.

Massive shout out to my man Kimi Raikonnen. He said at the start he could win if Lotus, delivered the goods and he was as good as his word yesterday.
Asked on the podium by David Coulthard to talk about his emotions and explain how amazing it was to win again, and Kimi in typical fashion, simply shrugged it seems.......
Dude still got it

Re: Formula 1 Season 2012
Ferraris piss poor qualifying performances looks to be Alonso's biggest enemy / undoing this season for not winning the title...
Such a shame, I mean at times he has over-performed in that Ferrari this season. Still hands down the best current F1 driver
P.S. He needs a lil bit of luck now to win it.
