Re: Worst CL season
I went too far, Barcelona would not crush Spain. Spain have the advantage over other NT in that alot of thier players play together often. However, with Messi, Barca are a completely different animal to Span.
However, the notion that NT football is even close to club football is simply funny.
Look, Jibbers is right. Alot of this is speculation. However, there is one thing which isnt speculation.
Clubs train 8-9 months togehter, national teams a combined what 2 months and only a week or two at a time?
Anyone who has coached at any kind of level knows the difference of this, even if you havent coached at any level this should be obvious thanks to common sense.
If you need more evidence. I advise you look at Brazil 70. They trained together for 3 months, not even the 8-9 months like club football...and they put on performances which many consider the best of any side, ever.
They Bayern thing, that really is a non starter. I am sorry, but all I can say is win, just win. When you do that, lets talk.

Re: Worst CL season
Even without Messi....
You replace Alves with Iraola and Abidal with Enrique and my thing is , Messi alone can never make up the insane wealth of players Spain has.
The coach literally has players for any tactical setup he wishes , he can just do anything he wants anytime he wants.I think an extremely versatile coach can make Spain a near unbeatable team , not necessarily as dominating as club teams, but a team that will get results against anyone.
That's with the needed preparation time of course.....
But I remember having this conversation before lol..

Seriously dude, how can you compare the German NT to the 3rd best team in the German League?

Anything higher than a 3-0 scoreline in Madrid's game tonight and this "competition" is seriously a joke.

As I've been saying football is at an all time low

And as I said last time, you would be wrong.
No good having 6 difent options when you can ony put 11 on the pitch.
Starting 11 in a one off game trumps all and Messi in that 11 ends this debate.

Re: Worst CL season
Actually it's more that refs decide for the attackers most of the time. Current defenders can rarely risk any tackles for fear of getting booked. Just look at what happened to Matip last week for virtually nothing -_-'Crimson wrote:Defenders are a joke compared to 5+ years ago

Re: Worst CL season
This is a bs thread, how do u define competition? Because there has been quite many close games and ties, away goals, last minute winners, tight games as well as big upsets etc....

Re: Worst CL season
this CL>last CL.
Man U had a walk in the park to the final....Bayern,Milan,Napoli,Real,Barca>>>>last season's quarter final teams.

Re: Worst CL season
Can Babun not make this kind of stupid thread anymore.
This season we saw big time spenders like United and City get kicked out in Group stage and yet you call it worst cpl...?
This is the best so far in recent years....

Re: Worst CL season
I'm not trying to belittle Bayern's or Farca's achievements. It's just that the majourity of the teams in current CL were/are crap They're cannon fodder materialIdrisozet wrote:Can Babun not make this kind of stupid thread anymore.

It's my own opinion, yours or other may differ. Certainly, the thread isn't stupid otherwise it wouldn't be 8 pages long. There IS stuff to discuss
I'll see you crying ' what a crap CL!' as soon as Milan goes out from QFGanso wrote:this CL>last CL.

Re: Worst CL season
its more of a mixed bag, yes there have been thrashings, for eg: madrid their group stage teams, bayern and barca thrashing their opponents 7-0 which we werent really expecting
however the same basel eliminated arguably the second best team in europe for the past 6 years , apoel eliminated lyon, survived in a group boasting of 3 uefa cup winners in the last 5 years, cska can still advance
its not that bad on the whole
