Former Real Madrid player Rincón advises Neymar to go to Barcelona.
http://sportv.globo.com/site/programas/arena-sportv/noticia/2012/03/vitima-de-racismo-no-real-rincon-diz-que-deu-conselhos-neymar.html
As a footballer, Freddy Rincón started at Atlético Buenaventura, from Colombia, then played for Palmeiras, Napoli, was Club World Champion with Corinthians, and also played for Real Madrid. At the merengue club, the former player only stayed for one season - and one without good memories.
Rincón claims to have been a victim of racism from the fans and the directors. The suffering in Madrid made the former defensive midfielder carry a lesson for the rest of his life, and even become a counselor of one of the biggest promises in Brazilian football: Neymar.
On a conversation with Neymar's father, Rincón, who played for the Peixe in 2000, said that he spent some time in Madrid and that the best thing for Neymar would be to go to their rivals Barcelona.
- We were talking about some things, it was exactly at that point when people were speculating on Neymar's possible exit from Brazil and I ended up giving him my opinion. If Roberto Carlos, at his best moment for Real Madrid, was a victim of racism, imagine Neymar! There, they don't have limits. It seems that the fan believes he's above all else - said Rincón.
The former midfielder was signed by Real Madrid in 1995, when played for Napoli and had already played for Palmeiras. At the Spanish club, the Colombian saw his dream of shining for a great European club become a nightmare already at his arrival in Madrid. The signing didn't please some of the fans, who according to Rincón, spray-painted racist things near the entrance of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
- Before I arrived, there were already things on the wall, saying that they didn't want a black man at Real Madrid. My time at the club was marked by that. I didn't have the opportunity to develop my football.
In one season, Rincón played only 19 games and scored two goals with Real Madrid's shirt. The Colombian says that he felt the pressure coming from some of the directors who didn't want his presence at the club either. The ex-footballer remembers that Lorenzo Sanz, club director between 1985 and 1995, even told him that, if he was elected president, Rincón would be the first player to leave the team.
Unfortunately, for Real Madrid, Rincón's advice also included Barcelona, their biggest rivals.
The Colombian believes that the Santos star would play better with Messi & co than with Cristiano Ronaldo.
- For the football type that he plays, it would be better if he went to Barcelona. There he would have more freedom, and at Real he would be a victim of Mourinho's system, and would have to be chasing after the full-back. Until he gets into the European rhythm, he will get a lot of criticism.

Re: Former Real Madrid player Rincón advises Neymar to go to Barcelona.
The fact that Rincon was rubbish didn't help his chances of enjoying his time at Madrid.
Anyway I'm sure things are much better now in that respect. Guys like Momo Diarra, Lass and Marcelo love it at Madrid.
Anyway unless you're cantera you're going to be boo'd at Madrid at one point or another. If you're too emotionally unstable to take it then you may as well not come.

Re: Former Real Madrid player Rincón advises Neymar to go to Barcelona.
So some Madrid fans are racist and he blames the whole club? It's not like the board of directors sent you away because you were black, it's because you sucked.
I dont agree that neymar will have more freedom at Barca, not at all. Madrid's system isnt centered around nobody, while Barca's is centered at Messi. Neymar won't be a goalscorer in Barca.

Re: Former Real Madrid player Rincón advises Neymar to go to Barcelona.
This guy lacks football literacy. He has literally just said the opposite of what will happen. Neymar will have to fit into Barcelona system and be used to create more space for Messi. Is Di Maria not free? The tracking and chasing full backs happenes in both teams, it's called pressing. This is the problem with South American football and why Europe took over. European football, at least successful on is about adaptig to sytems, at least in successful teams. Either team he goes to he will have to adapt. He will be less free at Barcelona, but will become a better footballer there. It's one or the other.

The most amusing thing about that statement is this
.At Barca it's a requirement that you case after the ball , that everyone press....at Madrid he would have more freedom not to.

Nerman is the reason Wenger hasn't splashed the cash since 2005. He's saving up for Nerman

No. He would have to press at Madrid. Difference is that He will be allowed to be far more direct.

Does Rincon even watch football? Does he think every barca players just freely roam on the pitch? he should get some glasses and realize that Barca wingers spend their time running and carrying the water for Messi lol

Nonsense.
I can't think of another team that is more multicultural and multiracial than Real Madrid. Blacks, Turks, South Americans, Arabs etc.
Their website recently added an Indonesian section (already had a Japanese and Arabic one).

Coincidently Rincon could have used glasses when he was a footballer too.

Yea but this idiot is trying to say he wouldn't have to press at Barca.I don't even think Mourinhio requires it more than Guardiola. There are times when we stop pressing completely.....Barca under no circumstances ever stop pressing.

regardless, that was a different time, i barely see how it applies to current times. You will always find some racists in some stadiums in spain, the one that will utter some racists chants towards players, but it's a reality in every single stadium, from barcelona to madrid. Both Marcelo and Alves have been victim to that. If he is a truly honest person and wants to spare Neymar from that, then he should advise him to go to Manchester Utd, he will be protected there. This is just another bit of propaganda for Barca to go to Barcelona, not that i care, but it sounds like a lot of Bs.

Re: Former Real Madrid player Rincón advises Neymar to go to Barcelona.
The Ultras Sur had a lot of influence in the early to mid 90's. I remember them chanting "we'll burn your ferrari's" in 1997 and at the time the players believed they would try to.
In any case that sort of thing is not present any more or at the very least not to that extent. You don't hear these things happening any more ever since the Ultras were put on a leash. Even during one of our worst seasons in 2009 nothing serious happened like in the early 90's.
Rincon may have had a bad experience but he's an idiot if he thinks this is still a factor. Besides do you think Barca fans won't boo Neymar if things don't go their way? lol

Re: Former Real Madrid player Rincón advises Neymar to go to Barcelona.
I think they do, and im glad we do it at home. There is no abuse of the booing tho, the fans do it when they are displeased with something that happened, i.e. Mourinho and Cr7 for example, or Benzema when he was being a fatass. Surely, if we pay 60M for Neymar and he turns out like Robinho 2.0, he will never hear the end of it lol.

Well they haven't really had cause to lol.
I've actually seen Valdes booed but that's off topic and has nothing to do with racism.
