Re: FC Basel
Well, his first act as FC Luzern director was appointing a new coach - and he actually lured Basel's U21 coach away from them to Luzern XD

My favourite club from Switzerland is FC Zurich, but I hope that RotBlau will win Europa League (and of course Swiss League).

Re: FC Basel
Mohamed Salah is a fantastic young winger who runs at lightning speed but has one big problem right now: He misses sitters by the dozens. If he'd learn to properly shoot on target and score, he'd be absolutely deadly.
He's only 20, but already an Egyptian international, and I think he will be soon snatched up by a team of one of the bigger leagues.

Re: FC Basel
Well Aleksandar Dragovic is pretty much holding the Basel defense together. If you get him you have a young defender (22) who still has some room for further development. He is solid in defense, but he is not really able to open the match like for example a Mats Hummels or Holger Badstuber does. The only problem is that sometimes he has totally idiotic/irresponsible moments that stir some public outrage (like him slapping the bald head of a Swiss minister when he got the medal for the Swiss Cup win last season etc).
IIRC, he is an Arsenal fan and would love to play in England, so you prolly have good cards to lure him to London. As you have quite some CBs already, you might want to consider loaning him out at first so that he can adapt to the English game and that he has the opportunity to get adequate match practice in the PL.
Right now he has a contract till 2015, so he will probably a bit more expensive than Arsène Wenger likes as Basel don't want to part with their starters for peanuts.

You're welcome
And no, he is not against bald people - he just seems to have a weird sense of humour:
And here's the story in a newspaper, albeit in German: http://www.krone.at/Sport/Klaps_auf_Minister-Glatze_Sperre_fuer_Dragovic-Scherz_mit_Folgen-Story-321888

Re: FC Basel
Sunday's Swiss Super League match:
FC Thun vs FC Basel 1893
FC Thun: Faivre; Lüthi, Schindelholz, Reinmann, Schirinzi; Ferreira, Zuffi, Demiri (78. Siegfried), Bättig; Wittwer (58. Steffen); Schneuwly (92. Sadik).
FC Basel: Sommer; Steinhöfer, Schär, Sauro, Park; Frei; Diaz (65. Serey Die), Elneny; Bobadilla, Stocker; Streller (65. Salah).
25.) 0:1 - Joo Ho Park
60.) 1:1 - Demiri
65.) 1:2 - Marcello Diaz (assist by Valentin Stocker)
70.) 2:2 - Zuffi (assist by Schneuwly)
FT - FC Thun 2:2 FC Basel 1893
Unfortunately, Yann Sommer was beaten twice this time. As a Swiss paper put it "So Yann Sommer proves that he is human after all".
As GC drew as well today, Basel are still on top of the table of the Swiss Super League.

He doesn't need to worry, we're starting Torres. Sommer's clean sheet is safe.

Re: FC Basel
Well, on the other hand, Petr Cech isn't a scrub either and Mohamed Salah won't hit the inside of the goal if he is alone and 1 metre in front of it, so maybe it will become a scoreless draw then XD

Petr Cech's in amazing form at present. Not many in the world who are doing better than him.
I could see a 0 all draw.

You know what would be fun? Two scoreless draws and then a penalty shoot-out, the GKs being the heroes

I'd rather Frank Lampard scoring a hattrick on the home leg to send us through....
We're pretty good a penalties though.

Re: FC Basel
Well, so is Basel - and Yann Sommer has a reputation of being a penalty killer - both in normal time and in shoot-outs. As a matter of fact, he did win every important shoot-out for Basel so far.
Here you can see the penalties he faced during his time as Basel's Nr.1 (no shoot-outs though, sorry). First list are the saved pens, second list the ones that got through:

Re: FC Basel
Basel don't give away many penalties I see.
Why don't we just give Sommer the day off so Chelsea can get through?

Aww, come on, this is Basel's first chance to get into a European final! Let the guys have the fun, you are still ruling European CL winners!
(BTW, my avatar is when Yann Sommer faced Chermiti in a penalty. He dared him to shoot and score - and guess what? He didn't score XD)

Re: FC Basel
I'd actually have liked to have lost the EL long ago, but we're at the Semi's may as well try go all the way.
It certainly won't be easy though.
Tell me, why hasn't Sommer moved to a bigger club? I think he is a fantastic GK from what I have seen.

Re: FC Basel
Well, so far he is content to be at Basel. He always stated in his interviews that it was his biggest dream to become Basel's Nr.1 - and of course now he wants to enjoy it for a while.
AFAIK there is interest in him by various clubs (including Schalke and Dortmund recently), but Sommer is clever enough that he won't go to a club to sit on the bench.
Moreover, as his contract runs until 2015, Basel will ask a substantial transfer fee and GK is a position where few clubs want to pay a substantial fee (as weird as this is, considering that a GK is actually more crucial than a striker).
I'd love to see him at Schalke, I have to admit. If Schalke would sign him, he'd be the Nr.1 there right away, I'd say and he'd have a good shot at CL or at least EL football every season. In Dortmund he'd be only the Nr.2 behind Weidenfeller and that is nothing he should aspire to, IMO.
