that's pretty harsh. now we definitely know it's some Mou vs. Nuri stuff. smh

The last time Sahin played for us he was well. if i'm not mistaken he has scored a goal and delivered an assist for Callejon.

Mourinho's tough love, it worked with Benzema, when he called him a cat which he had to send hunting when the dog (Higuain) was not available.

Mourinho bought Sahin to replace Alonso, in a role that is probably the most vital in the team, he want's Sahin to be fit and ready when the time comes...
He's still doing his preseason according to Mourinho, expect more of him when he completes his "preseason".

Not quite the case.

Benzema..as I've been saying...got to play.....then got dropped.

Sahin on the other hand.........

This is why we need to spend money on guys....why dosen;t Mou give kaka some tough love.

FFS, the Benzema and Sahin situations are NOT COMPARABLE! At all!

We dont know anything about why Sahin is being left out, but certain things are clear. Mourinho has his irrational preferences, he has his strange habits and sometimes does not play otherwise deserving players for the most trivial of reasons. Yes, it is annoying. No, it does not make Mou a bad coach and neither does it outweigh the good that he has done for us. But I look forward to Sahin getting some playing time and hopefully becomigng a starter, as he deserves to.

Such BS, granero was about to go to Betis if it wasnt for Khedira and Lass being out at that precise time. Now he talks about how we cant afford to lose Granero, yet he barely saw the pitch in the first half. Just how dumb does he think people are?

And if he thinks so highly of Granero, why sign Sahin in the first place then? just so Real madrid points could go up in fifa? wow mourinho, just wow

so was Balotelli at Inter tough love? people demonize mario, but if his coach is playing mind games with him at the age of 18 shouldn't we have expected him to be petulant?

just wondering

What reason will Mourinho have to delibrately keep Sahin from playing other that issues of match fitness? Benzema's situation was different from Sahin, but they are essentially the same. Benzema's issue was loss of form, Sahin, match fitness/injuries.

The team is at a crunch point in the season, where any points dropped could serve as motivation for the opposition, where one bad night in Europe could see you out of the competition, it's not time to take risks (or "kid around" as Mourinho would put it), just to give Sahin minutes.

Let the team wrap up the league early enough and Sahin will get a lot of play time, as was seen, when Real Madrid qualified from the CL group with two games to spare. Sahin started the two matches. If Madrid wins the league, he'll start the remaining matches. And with time and a proper preseason, he'll displace Alonso.

I'm sure that's all true.

I just think he missed a trick. He's been back since November, we had more than enough time to integrate him, and he certainly provides something no one else does on the team.

he would've been /still can make an impact this season.

A real quote of what he actually said:

"No offence, but Real Madrid is a much better team than the Turkish national side. Club sides are better than national teams and it's easier to play regularly for your country's team than for your club because the teams are stronger. It's great news for us that Sahin did well and he can do even more if he continues to have a great preseason and to grow with the team. We're in no condition to kid around and use players who, in my opinion, aren't as productive as others right now."

it fundamentally makes sense, but looks like bullshit regarding the kids talent, and hard evidence seen with turkey match.

Mou: Sahin isnt "productive" enough..... nothing to do with preseason or anything, to me lazy is written all over that word

And Mou himself said he regrets how he treated Granero before he became a regular

I think this could have something to do with language barrier and Sahin's ability to interact with or understand other players, because I don't remember Mourinho ever signing a player and then refusing to play him.

He has the control who we sign now after he got Valdano fired, so that can't be true.

Mourinho today on Nuri Sahin

"Sahin is an option we have to replace Xabi Alonso. He will be on the squad list tomorrow and not on the stands. He has made progress in the last few weeks. He has to keep up the good work and he shows he is a true professional. He will stay here next season and more is expected of him. We have faith in him. Rumours about him leaving are just rumours."

Getting a starting berth in Mourinho’s team is not as easy as many might think because he demands so much from his players especially during training. Just ask a certain Kaka. If this is the case then Real will maintain the 4-2-3-1 shape that they’ve been using.
