Re: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Pfft. Yesterday's result wasn't funny!
On the plus side it shows that Gladbach can only be beaten by themselves

Bundesliga Matchday 12 - Saturday 22 Nov 2014
Borussia M'gladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt
BMG: Sommer - Korb, Jantschke, Alvaro Dominguez, Wendt - Nordtveit (76. Hrgota), G.Xhaka - Hahn (66. Hazard), Herrmann (76. Traoré) - Raffael - M.Kruse
Eintracht Frankfurt Wiedwald - Chandler, Russ, Anderson, Oczipka - Hasebe - Stendera (67. Kittel) - Aigner (90. Piazon), Inui - Meier, Seferovic (90+2. Madlung)
Goals:
06.) 1:0 - Havard Nordtveit (assist by Granit Xhaka)
54.) 1:1 - Marc Stendera (assist by Haris Seferovic)
57.) 1:2 - Alexander Meier (assist by Stefan Aigner)
73.) 1:3 - Takashi Inui (assist by Alexander Meier)
FT - Borussia M'gladbach 1:3 Eintracht Frankfurt
Well, the first 20 minutes were really good and it looked like an easy win for BMG, but from then on things got gradually worse until Frankfurt scored 3 goals in the second half. It could easily have been 1:6, if not for some great goal-keeping by Yann Sommer, who finally got infected by the slump of his colleagues in the 73rd minute when he played a bad pass to Granit Xhaka that was intercepted by a Frankfurt player who then set up the completely free standing Inui for the 1:3.

Europa League Group Stage Matchday 5:
Villarreal CF vs Borussia M'gladbach
Goals:
26.) 1:0 - Luciano Vietto (assist by Jaume Costa)
55.) 1:1 - Raffael (assist by Havard Nordtveit)
63.) 2:1 - Denis Cherychev (assist by Luciano Vietto)
67.) 2:2 - Granit Xhaka (FK bomb)
FT - Villarreal CF 2:2 Borussia M'gladbach
The first half was Villarreal playing and Gladbach sleeping. In the second half, Gladbach woke up and decided to take part in the match, too. So you could say it was a well-deserved draw in the end.
No chance with any of the goals

Because actually he's a one of the most overrated players in Europe. Xhaka is much better than him. Gladbach won't overpay for him (15 mln? haha, very funny) and that's why it's a good information. Moreover, I don't like him.

Re: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Heh. I just stumbled over this graphic at Bundesliga.com:
It shows that Gladbach are second worst at conceding shots from opponents with 269 shots on goal (Bayern only conceded 105 shots), but they are still second best in number of conceded goals for the Hinrunde. Sommer power!

Re: Borussia Mönchengladbach
BMG is currently in the training camp in Belek. So far they played three training matches:
Sunday 11 Jan 2015:
BMG 2:0 Arminia Bielefeld
Tuesday 13 Jan 2015:
BMG 2:3 SV Werder Bremen
BMG 2:4 Gençlerbirliği Spor Kulübü (Ankara)
Lucien Favre used the matches to test a lot, and so far Janis Blaswich and Christofer Heimeroth stood between the posts, while Yann Sommer, who played all 27 matches in the "Hinrunde" without missing a minute, was allowed to relax and had to do some media work.
Currently he is writing the official "Trainingslager-Tagebuch" (training camp diary): http://tinyurl.com/yannsdiary
And he has to do quite some interviews for the media plus a public session on twitter where he's going to answer questions by fans: http://tinyurl.com/yanntwitter20150114
Further test matches
Sa 17.01.2015: Rot-Weiss Essen 0:1 BMG
Sa 24.01.2015: 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1:3 BMG

Borussia M'gladbach vs SC Freiburg
BMG: Sommer - Korb, Stranzl (46. Alvaro Dominguez), Jantschke, Wendt - Kramer, G.Xhaka - Herrmann (79. Hazard), F.Johnson - M.Kruse - Hrgota (85. Brouwers)
Freiburg: Bürki - Sorg, Höhn, Torrejon, C.Günter - Darida, Frantz - Klaus (78. Philipp), Schmid - Petersen (82. Schahin), Möller Daehli
Goal:
23.) 1:0 - Patrick Herrmann (assist by Branimir Hrgota)
FT - Borussia M'gladbach 1:0 SC Freiburg
Well, as some journalist wrote - Borussia M'gladbach started into the Rückrunde with merciless efficiency. Two times a 1:0 victory, both goals scored by Patrick Herrmann after a Branimir Hrgota assist.
On the plus side, Stuttgart and Freiburg are not BMG's favourite opponents, so these points came as a nice surprise. On the minus side, both matches were veritable "Grottenkicks". But then, 2 x 3 points are 2 x 3 points.
Yann Sommer is currently the best goalie in the Top5 European leagues if you look at the save percentage (83.51%)

Bundesliga Matchday 20 - Friday 6 Feb 2015
Schalke 04 vs Borussia M'gladbach
Schalke: Wellenreuther - Höwedes, Matip, Nastasic - Kirchhoff - Uchida, Höger, Barnetta (84. Aogo), Fuchs - Choupo-Moting (72. Sane), K.-P.Boateng
BMG: Sommer - Jantschke, Brouwers, Dominguez, Wendt - Nordtveit, Xhaka - Herrmann (75. Hrgota), Hazard - Raffael, Kruse (63. Traoré)
Goal:
11.) 1:0 - Tranquillo Barnetta (assist by Kevin-Prince Boateng)
FT - Schalke 04 1:0 Borussia M'gladbach
The series of "Grottenkicks" in which BMG were involved extended to 3 now, the only drawback this time was that the only goal was scored by Schalke.
It was logical that it wasn't a result of some nice play, but it followed a friendly assist by Raffael that made its way to KPB who had all the time of the world to cross into the box where 4 BMG defenders didn't feel responsible to defend and so Quillo Barnetta managed to score from maybe 3 or so meters distance to the goal.
After that, Schalke felt they had done enough and parked an Airbus A380 consisting of a defense line of 5 bolstered by 3 DMs in front of them, which Gladbach didn't manage to breach.
I want to add at least something nice here <3

Borussia M'gladbach vs 1.FC Köln
BMG: Sommer - Korb, Brouwers, Jantschke, Dominguez - Xhaka, Kramer - Traoré (73. Hazard), Herrmann - Raffael (81. Hrgota), Kruse (90.+2 Stranzl)
Köln: Horn - Olkowski, Mavraj, Wimmer, Hector - Lehmann - Risse (86. Nagasawa), Vogt, Osako (20. Deyverson), Halfar - Ujah (63. Peszko)
Goal:
90+1.) 1:0 - Granit Xhaka (assist by Thorgan Hazard)
FT - Borussia M'gladbach 1:0 1.FC Köln
The Rhein derby was a tough match. Köln parked not only a bus, but a veritable tramway, and Gladbach again had to try to go through it. This time they looked a bit better than against Schalke as they tried some longer distance shots and crosses, but when they got through, the very good keeper Timo Horn was in the way. Gladbach managed 8 shots on goal, while Köln only managed to test Yann Sommer once (albeit the save he had to make was a very spectacular one).
So it was a set piece in the very last minute of injury time that finally brought the decision. Thorgan Hazard took the FK and crossed the ball into the box where Granit Xhaka stood totally free and could head the ball past Horn for the well-earned derby win. Xhaka then sprinted 100 metres over the whole pitch at full speed and jumped into Yann Sommer's arms to celebrate the goal with him.

Europa League Round of 32, First leg:
Sevilla FC vs Borussia M'gladbach
Sevilla: Sergio Rico - Vidal (90+3. Deulofeu), Pareja, Daniel Carrico, Fernando Navarro - Iborra, Krychowiak - Vitolo, Banega (88. Denis Suarez), J.Reyes (55. Diogo Figueiras) - Bacca
BMG: Sommer - Jantschke, Stranzl, Dominguez, Wendt - G.Xhaka, Kramer - T.Hazard, F.Johnson - Raffael (78. M.Kruse), Hrgota (68. Herrmann)
Goals:
70.) 1:0 - Iborra (assist by Diogo Figueiras)
FT - Sevilla FC 1:0 Borussia M'gladbach
The ref (Aleksandar Stavrev from Macedonia) in the Gladbach match was an utter disgrace. Gladbach's players got booked for the slightest touch and the Sevilla guys could kick and elbow them as if there was no tomorrow and went free.
The loss was Gladbach's own fault though. If you can't score from three sitters, then you can't complain if you get countered. Oscar Wendt was unable to cope with Sevilla's attackers and let Iborra run away. Yann Sommer had no chance there
All in all, BMG were definitely not the worse team in the match, so they still have all chances to proceed when they finally manage to score their chances in the second leg at home at the Borussia Park.
Those thugs from Sevilla tried to kill Yann Sommer (and the other players) and didn't even get yellow cards for it.

Booooring match that really deserved no winner. Granit Xhaka was sadly missing and Gladbach lacked creativity due to his suspension (5th yellow).

Europa League Round of 32, Second leg:
Borussia M'gladbach vs Sevilla FC
BMG: Sommer - Jantschke (77. Johnson), Stranzl, Dominguez (78. Hrgota), Wendt - Kramer, Xhaka - Herrmann (72. Traoré), Hazard - Raffael, Kruse
Sevilla: Sergio Rico - Figueiras, Daniel Carrico, Kolodziejczak, Tremoulinas - Iborra, Krychowiak - Vidal, Banega (65. Mbia), Vitolo - Bacca
Goals:
08.) 0:1 - Martin Stranzl (own goal, forced by Bacca)
19.) 1:1 - Granit Xhaka (assist by Patrick Herrmann)
26.) 1:2 - Vitolo
29.) 2:2 - Thorgan Hazard (assist by Raffael)
79.) 2:3 - Vitolo (assist by Gameiro)
FT - Borussia M'gladbach 2:3 Sevilla FC (2:4 on aggregate)
Very entertaining match tonight. Gladbach played with a lot of attacking verve, but just didn't manage to score from their good chances. Sevilla on the other hand were clinical and scored on the counter. Yann Sommer held Gladbach in the match with some heroic 1 vs 1 action, but in the end he was powerless, too.
Granit Xhaka made a stupid "frust foul" and got sent off with a second yellow in the 69th minute, and then Lucien Favre subbed off practically all defenders and went out on full attack mode, giving Sevilla the space for the final strike.
Why me?

This match had 2 of the crappiest goals in this BL season. Especially the second one deserves to be nominated as this matchday's "Kacktor" (most embarassing and/or crappy goal).
One happy goalie <3
