But was 808's regarded as a masterpiece when released? Hell no, you can't just say Kanye is being dickrided by reviewers. That's bullshit. And it would be stupid to compare Yeezus to MBDTF becouse honestly, that album is the best album of the last 10 years. You can't expect Kanye to release albums of that quality everytime, that's just unrealistic.

It's kinda obvious you just aren't feeling the "darker" Kanye, if you didn't appreciate MBDTF, but pls dont go and call reviewers dickriders becouse it's just laughable lol

What? The last decade? From 2000-2010? MBDTF?

Oh God no.

Oh God no.

What other album was better of that decade? The only ones I can think of that can challange it are The Eminem Show, Speakerboxx/Love Below and Madvillainy. Seriously, I think MBDTF was the best album of the last 10 years

You liked that line? Laughing

That almost ruined the song for me....How the feck did no one involved in production of the album stand up and say "Uhhh yeah Kanye thats just factually inaccurate" rofl- If someone DID say that and he left it in anyway thats even worse. Great song other than that though

The weakness of the album for me is "Im in it" without a doubt

Im not a fan of "I am a God" either but I think its okay in context of the album

Rest of the album is fire imo

I love that line, it's a reference to Chief Keef's trehunna, besides it's catchy

300 wasn't the Romans though...and saying it just cause its catchy even though it doesn't make any sense is dumb

Never said I "didn't appreciate" MBDTF but I never gave it a real listen outside of the tracks everyones heard like Power, All of the Lights

I'm a huge fan of old Kanye, a la College dropout but MBDTF was his masterpiece imo and Yeezus doesn't come near it and I only even bring MBDTF up because it's being praised at and above that level of adulation and that's uncalled for imo. There are some things that do sound lazy on the album but I do like it overall and wouldn't dismiss it entirely.

Ehhh, let's just agree to disagree. To me MBDTF was his obviously best work, and while LR and Graduation are great classic albums, they just don't live up to how insanely good MBDTF. I still listen to MBDTF, and it's easily one of my top 10 albums I've ever listened to. To me, it's up there with the greats such as ATLiens. To me, Kanye's album in this order:

MBDTF > Dropout > Yeezus > LR > Graduation >>>>>>>> 808's (I liked 808s tho, it's just not very impressive compared to his other works)

Read what I wrote. I said the opposite 🤦The point is, critics where the ones who critisized 808's, while the public reaction was that they liked it. Hence why it got so much radio play but was considered trash by the critics. AKA you are REALLY wrong about reviewers dickriding Kanye, and I'm repeating that it was even laughable to think so lol

Then don't discuss a album you haven't even given a chance with me. It's obvious you haven't really listened to the album thoroughly, so I don't even know how you can be arguing that other albums are better than a album you haven't really listened to yet. It's not crazy to call MBDTF the best album of the last decade, becouse I'm not the only one who thinks so, and it clearly is anyway. No other album had such good production and was full of great rap lyrics, and even had several rap artists best verses ever (Nicki and Ross for example, had their best verses in MBDTF)

Anyway let's just agree to disagree. Honestly doubt I can change your minds, and it's a discussion of opinions, so it's hardly something you can change from a discussion, but rather just listening to the album and your judgement.

Post by El Gunner Sun Jun 23, 2013 7:04 pm

So I finally got to completely listen to both Born Sinner and Yeezus...

Both are good, not very good or great, just good. I'm kinda finding it hard to choose which one is better. If Born Sinner had lesser tracks (the weaker tracks being dropped) it would have made it easy for me. I don't kinda dig the acid house sound to Yeezus. I get that it's experimental almost like 808s when it came out. Initially I also didn't dig 808s that much, but it grew on me later, so maybe the same might happen with Yeezus to me.

My favourite tracks from Born Sinner is Power Trip, Villuminati, Trouble, Rich Niggaz, Miss America and Forbidden Fruit (in no particular order) and from Yeezus; Hold My Liquor and Blood on the Leaves. These two tracks are very good and I don't think Born Sinner has any track to compete with these two. Black Skinhead has potential to grow on me.

Despite Yeezus having two songs which I like very much and which Born Sinner can't compete with, the other tracks lets the album down. I am a God and New Slaves are ridiculously stupid tracks, especially the former. While the others are basically just solid.

I'm slightly leaning towards Born Sinner *hides behind couch*

Just listened to it again. College Dropout is much better. Production, lyrics, and back then you could actually relate to some of the shit Kanye said. I had heard every song on there, there's a reason I didn't remember it all of it and that's cause the last 3rd of the album is completely forgettable. It's great up until Runaway then falls off. LR is better than this album too.

Yeezus is easily his worst effort.

Anyway when you admit you're a stan, you kinda lose all credibility because we know you're completely biased.

I can't believe no one is talking about that "On Sight" track on Yeezus. The very first track, if I'm not mistaking. That might be THE WORST song I've ever heard. Unbelievably awful!

6/10 for Yeezus from me.

Born Sinner gets an 8/10 from me. Love over 80% of that album.

On Sight is complete garbage, it's very scary. I am a God is also utter trash too. Both sound very very lazy and get praised by people who know nothing of rap or the old Kanye and assume anything he farts out is gold. But Blood on the Leaves is a great track, and that one line aside, Black Skinhead is quality.

Anyone downloading or downloaded YONAS' Transition 2?

Find it funny how Tyler, J Cole, Wale, Kanye and even scrubs like like Tyga, French all released albums this year and each one has been pretty disappointing.

Only album worth listening to so far was Mac Miller's suprising enough. Make sure you give it a listen if you haven't already.

Drake, Jay & Big Sean need to deliver.

How many albums you guys think Drake will sell first week by the way? Guessing around a mil.

Checked out some of it last night. And that 88 track was probably my favorite that I heard. Intro was cool too.

"these rappers is Sam Bowie to me
I was a Bowie student
It wasnt really nothin
Thats why I kicked it and blew(blue) grass like a Boise Punter"

Cool last line was nice. And Sam Bowie has been a punchline for rappers for the past 30 years rofl

edit: "I ball for real: y'all niggas is Sam Bowie
And with the third pick, I made the earth sick" - Jay-Z

"look here, you Sam Bowie
Scram scoobie" - the Goat killa Cam

"Damn moolies, chain of command's ran through me
You and your man uzi, +Slow Down+ like Brand Nubie
Can't do me, grant to me, like a man groupie
If that's the number one pick, then he Sam Bowie" - Joe Budden

never gets old Laughing

And who will be the first rapper to reference Aaron Hernandez. I would say either Budden or Wale.
