It's been unanimously panned as by far the worst entry in the series. Of course you still have a few rabid fanboys in here that will go to bat for it.

It could have been great. The whole ending and choices from previous games meaning jackshit ruined it.

Re: Mass Effect Thread
Honestly it seems like this is the Dragon Age 2 of ME games
3 was good, think I may have liked it more than 1, but yeah the ending brought it down tremendously

@MJ @McLewis
Read this if you finished the game, massive spoilers
Would love to hear what you guys think
Read this if you finished the game, massive spoilers
- Spoiler:
- We learn through the Ryder memories mission that the Andromeda Initiative (AI) leaves the Milky Way galaxy just before the Reapers full assault in ME3, this game has the best ending setup in any ME game ever, the amount of mysteries is akin to Lost, so far we have 5 large revelations in the game
1. The Benefactor
So we learn that Jien Garson was a puppet head, her hand was forced to go to Andromeda, Alec Ryder as well. This Benefactor funded the initiative, massive credits and helped develop SAM, the reason for all of this is 'something big spooked them in the Milky Way' and the benefactor sought to move 100000 people to Andromeda. We learn that this is because of the incoming Reaper threat. However, we discover that Jien Garson was murdered. She discovered something, possibly relating to the Benefactor, who remains anonymous. This leads me to believe that, the Benefactor has a presence in Andromeda, either through him/her or his agents. We can surmise this:
-The Benefactor is massively wealthy
-The Benefactor has incredible resources to develop an AI like SAM
The obvious choice The Illusive Man, however, TIM/Cerberus hate aliens, why would they ship Asari/Salariaj/Turian arks as well? It doesn't fit in with his thinking.
The second choice would be The Shadow Broker, but that is inconsistenr, since Liara and SB did commune with Alec in his personal logs, seems unlikely.
The final choice would be someone completely new we haven't met
2. Cora Harper
Cora's last name is the same of the Illusive Man's, it is highly likely that she could be his daughter or sister. We learn that she is meticulous with organizing and conducting research. The first thing ahe does after the epilogue is establish science teams to analyze Meridian. It could be very likely that Cerberus has a major presence in the Andromeda Initiative
3. The Higher Power
We learn that the Archin answers to higher powers in a cutscene with his officer, however we do not know what these entities are. It is only mentioned in that instance, it is quite possible that this might be Prothean/Reaper/Something new
4. The Remnant and Jaardan
So the Remnant are builders of species, they could be the origin of life itself. We haven't seen the Jaardan yet, but they are a highly advanced species, now gone extinct. It is highly likely that there is a connection with Reapers/Protheans and Jaardan/Remnant. The Remnant structures are so alike Reapers, the similarity is disturbing.
5. The Quarian Distress Signal
In the Epligoue we learn the Quarians finally arrive at Andromeda since they shipped a year late because they had to bring Hanar, Krell etc. however in the distress signal, the commander says 'We are in a state of emergency, if you are listening, stay away, do not come to us' this is disturbing, why would they say stay away?
My theory is this:
Since The Quarians shipped a year late, they must've caught the Reaper attack in the Milky Way. It could be the Reapers chased them from The Milky Way to Andromeda, and in a fit of bravery, they are sacrificing themselves so the Reapers don't discover the Andromeda Initiative. However, it is likely that Ryder and Co will go to try to rescue them alerting them of organic life presence in the Milky Way. Just my 2 cents
What are your thoughts
Would love to hear what you guys think

Re: Mass Effect Thread
Wonder if they even continue this as a trilogy. Wouldn't be surprised at all with the backlash if they shelve ME series for another 5-10 years. Heard Sales were down from ME2 and 3.

If EA's disappointed by sales they can always change it. Hawke was supposed to be the Shepard of the Dragon Age series, he would have been the protagonist of Dragon Age Inquisition but after Dragon Age II flopped, they changed plans (Exalted March DLC got cancelled, I imagine that would have led right to Inquisition).

I don't know if you know this but the Mass Effect series is quite good. Being the worst entry in the series doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad game

@ES
No, I haven't finished it yet and might take a while to do so. I'll let check the post when I'm done.

Re: Mass Effect Thread
There's a EA insider who often comes on NeoGAF hinting that the series just hasn't gone on hiatus, but is completely dead.
I mean that's what most would assume anyway. It's the equivalent of your girl telling you that you're just taking a break from each other, when what she really means is that the relationship is over.

IP won't stay dead forever, it has too much potential and name recognition, but I don't want Bioware handling it in this day and age, they are scrubs now. Fully expect Andromeda to be done though.

Re: Mass Effect Thread
Finished the game and I want the franchise stay dead or better yet, Bioware stay hiatus and figure their shit out. Bugs and glitches galore but I'm not even pissed at that ( corrupted save files on Voeld was the worst).
The world is beautiful and freaking dead, this open world area requires no effort whatsoever, just couple of kett camp here, outlaw outpost there, oh and throw in environmental hazard to gate content to prevent Hinterland 2.0. Where is wildlife, the danger, the mystery. The remnant dungeon is lol, it's plain with couple of enemies and one big dude in the end. The quest design team has to be fired, who thought it's good idea to do series of fetch/ collect quests with random spawn points. The companions which were Bioware strong point didn't do it for me. Boring, typical Bioware fantasy characterization with artificial personal problems & without wits/ charms, like lets go get a *bleep* popcorn for movie night. The PC culture got to them, I don't see anything wrong with sexy gorgeous people in fantasy space game, instead we got this half ass edgy, current affair/trend relevant characters.
The story is meh as in I don't care for any alien races, Milky Way fate or the bad guy for that matter. You are pathfinder, exploring unknown planets but you and your whole team acting like colonial space marines
The only redeeming quality this time is combat and that's if u play on insane.
Inquisition success blind Bioware direction, it's ok game in a very dry year. They are just not good anymore, time to get back to drawing board, start learning from the best.

So I've been playing it and loving it so far.
Why the dislike for this game? It's a great game honestly. Much better than Inquisition which was trash no matter what reviews say.
Gameplay is a 10/10

Its a great game but the janky launch+animations just killed it, people were shitting on it with no remorse, despite that, underneath its a very good game
