Ofc he is a bit biased since he is the sporting director of pool, but its not that outrageous to claim.

Maybe Rooney will be hailed as a better player in a few years, but for now it is still Gerrard imo.

hence 20 years.. Gazza was brilliant on his day, but he had a crazy mind. lineker was "produced" in the late 70ies 30+ years ago

shearer would be a better candidate that gazza

Lineker retired from england exactly 20 years ago

and retired from football altogether 18 years ago got his last individual award in 1992 so yh i can include him

Shearer was good as well but Gazza>>>Shearer clearly

mat Le Tissier would have been the GREATEST of all time English players if he had moved to a bigger club. this guy was averaging 25 to 30 goals a season as a MIDFIELDER with Southampton, incredible. his technique was one of the best i have ever seen. he was incredibly underrated because of the club he played for.

@Ali, he was a Mou type of footballer going to every league... but he was good in all mayeb not Serie A that much

he also had personal problems if only he had stopped those antics he couldve shown more than he did

Walcott is at the top level as well....doesnt tell me much

if it goes for players who starters their careers in the last 20 years rather than who played in the cumulative time,

then yea it would be between Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard

it depends on when you begun watching football. Because Scholes belongs in the category of "good old wines". Older the better.. I mean he was very good up untill 2002-2003 , but from there after he reached other levels , unique player.

No doubt Gerrard is one of England's best in the last 20 years though. Pretty tough to choose actually, but Scholes for me.

His brilliant non-stop movement on the field , his unstoppable voleys which turned into great goals , his mentality on facing straightly physically stronger opponents and above all his simplicity with the ball , was something that any coach dreams , every teammate expects and every fan cheers about.

Having said that...Gerrard could still reach his status , they re in the same category. He always had it and still does. They don't differ much , except Gerrard have won less the last decade and being a more physical type of player..Skill wise there isn't much of a difference though.

started watching from 06 onwards, scholes was amazing till 08, in 09 and onwards he dropped off a bit.. gerrard was consistent all these years. i remember arguing how he was better than cristiano ronaldo in 08 when 95 percent of kids were ronaldo shirts etc .. plus the way he destroyed us in 09.
