Hah, Where are you now Haters :@.
Knew it all along. If half fit Gerrard can do this, Can't imagine what a fit Gerrard will do in a few weeks .
Brilliant after coming on, Those pin point crosses, Those runs with an objective, The goal.

Gotta say, when Gerrard came on he really changed the game. Then scored a well placed goal.

Re: Steven Gerrard is no longer WC.
I didnt see the game, first thing I will say.
But here is some food for thought. If Gerrard was terrible for 2 games in a row, would you say he is finished?
I doubt it.
So, why after 2 games (one of which he didnt start) is he back to "world class"?
How about we wait and see after weeks and months?

Well him being injured didn't stop some from calling him finished.
In all fairness you're right.

Lampard is the highest scoring midfielder in the Premier League. He's still past his best.

Far more to Gerrard's performance today than just the goal and you know it.Gil wrote:Lampard is the highest scoring midfielder in the Premier League. He's still past his best.
That said this thread is very premature.

Fixed, except Davide GOATON who has done nothing but impress me, yet Pardew finds it difficult to start him
I like Pardew and he has done a fantastic job but sometimes his tactical choices leave alot to be desired.

I thought Santon was injured, not just omitted?

Re: Steven Gerrard is no longer WC.
Sorta, he got injured in the last game and was on the bench for this game but has hardly played this season in one of our weaker positions which has annoyed me quite a bit tbh.
Along with a few other tactical choices from the manager.

Anything in particular you mean by that?
My personal feelings is he is doing too much defensive work and would see the best of him more consistent in a 4-3-3 where he can get forward and play final passes and interact with the forwards and take shots from outside the box.
But it will never happen.

Re: Steven Gerrard is no longer WC.
Watching a replay of the game now it didn't seem like Cabaye was very involved outside of the goal and some limited touches during Newcastle's late spell of possession.
Also, that tackle on Spearing was absurdly nasty. Disgusting, really.

Happened far too often this season and probably due to the fact he has been deployed as the furthest of a "3" in a 4-3-3 system his whole career and suddenly he has to play a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 in the midfield 2 and doing a ridiculous amount of defensive work........
Two things has to happen, either one he adapts to the role or someone gets shipped out ( Ben Arfa) in favour of a 4-3-3.
Mind you there are far more pressing matters than that namely that the fullbacks and wingers ( Bar Santon) are all imo utterly crap.

Thoughts on Skrtel?
He's been LFC's best defender all season, arguably best in the league.
