They're not English.......
Anyway, this question is insulting to one Wayne Rooney.
Wilshere
Theo
Gibbs
Oxlade
Shaw
Barkley etc.
I need to see more from these guys.

Re: When was the last time England produced a very good player
Owen Hargreaves!
No no, just kidding. Depends on what we mean by "very good player." There are some people who divide absolutely every footballer into one of two categories, "world-class" or "shit." So by that rationale, probably not a "very good player" from England since the heyday of Scholes.
I don't subscribe to that all-or-nothing approach, myself. I'd say Wayne Rooney is a great player, someone who at various points in his career has definitely been in the conversation as one of the top five forwards in the world.
But certainly there have been some other "very good" players. Of guys whose careers are winding down or recently retired, you can make a great case for Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick. Terry and Ferdinand too, during their peaks. Much as I hate a lot of those guys.
I think Wilshere has great potential but still isn't quite a great player yet. Dude's only 22 so there's plenty of time. If you count him though, then it's not unreasonable to consider Baines, Johnson, Walcott, Hart (very much out of favor these days but he's had some terrific seasons & a long future ahead of him so who knows) ... and if you're talking about young talent with high ceilings, then certainly Gibbs, Shaw, Barkley, Sterling, and Oxlade-Chamberlain are in the conversation.

Re: When was the last time England produced a very good player
Are there actually people that think Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard & Wayne Rooney aren't great players?

Re: When was the last time England produced a very good player
Very good is subjective. To some it might mean someone elite like Rooney, while to others it can be someone like Wilshere.
For me it's definitely Wilshere. Hopefully he can stay fit for the rest of the season and be an important part of the England team at the WC.

all of them are either pushing 30, or close to it... hence, "the last time"

Grammar joke aside I just don't get what you mean by when did they produce? How can you track a specific date? Players that were recently produced who aren't great yet may turn out to be great soon. There could have been someone who debuted just recently that'll be the next great player. Or someone that looks great can be just a flash in the pan and crap by next month

Last great talents are Luke Shaw, Jack, Sturridge, etc.
England have many talent just dont know how to use them in international games.

Define "very good". I see a few good players but no "very good" players.

England does have very good players, Rooney is the most obviousy one so I don't get what this thread is really about.
