Honestly as a professional he is a role model, the best I have seen. Other than that he is a man of contradictions . I dont like or dislike him TBH but I think his story is inspiring, it actually inspires me in my everyday life.

He certainly is someone to look up to without a doubt, but were he to be more humble, I wouldn't mind buying his jersey.Yuri Yukuv wrote:Honestly as a professional he is a role model, the best I have seen. Re: Cristiano Ronaldo Fan Club
No, the big factor is his fashion sense - I.E. lack of traditional masculine qualities - this is the only thing I can find as a bad thing about ronaldo being an idol to kids (not trying to insult anyone, just voicing my opinion).Pedram wrote:I think the main factor is his arrogance, if he could be more humble like Messi he'd be loved by all fans. :flower:
It's way to late in the discussion for me to just bark in, so I'll just keep it simple.
I think Zalous nailed the basic psychology with his last post, however it does not apply to everyone's opinion of Ronaldo.
Me, I've been on the CR7 haters side and the CR7 appreciation side. One thing that I simply overgrown with time is the irritation when seeing Cr7 perform or talk or whatever. With time I got to understand he's not a bad guy, maybe a bit slow (not retarded slow but not the brightest either). When you see how he built his image of cocky "handsome" guy you have to ask yourself why he did so.
IMO, when Ronaldo came to Manchester and became a sensation - he basically became a celebrity in all of the world - that's how strong image Man UTD had. If you're a football player, you're bound to be around models. This is where metrosexualism enters footballers lives. Some are oldschool and some are less cool , anyway Ronaldo simply switched to the dark side and yes, now he embarasses himself with boxers during trainings and calf muscles celebrations. This is his way of percieving success. This is not because he's a bad person and cocky, like some people think, he's not arrogant - he's just not the brightest man alive. I swear, sometimes you can hear the humblest of things coming from his mouth (or see him serving passes hen he should shoot ), on the other hand - when he thinks he has to be a sucesful-pro he reverts to being this focus minded freak that concentrates so much on sucess that he easily comes off as cocky.
I am a Ronaldo fan, not a big one, but an objective Ronaldo fan. I liked him even before he joined Real Madrid and I never changed opinion again because I know not to expect him to be a guy who contemplates a lot before he acts. He' just not smart enough imo, but don't get me wrong, he's not an idiot either.
"No man masculine enough can do what he does..." - this is an example of what people who dislike him say all the time. I know, I see him and I facepalm many times, but I'm not irritated by that, I have sympathy for him knowing that he is not a bad guy but is simply a bit slow and misguided. If he spent more time with Roy Keane in Manchester instead with super models - he would prob have more male fans today
Anyway, just to add a funny thought - when I first saw Ronaldo in Man UTD shirt I disliked him because he had the name of Ronaldo - and I thought "well, look at this wanker, going around thinking he's Ronaldo"
Anyway, when Ronaldo says "I'm rich, handsome and sucessful" - he's adressing the idiotic fans who chant Messi, Messi at him - the catch is that Messi is nowhere near at the time and has nothing to do with the game (What Ronaldo says is because he can't find any other explanation for this idiotic chants by this mediocre people - I live in Croatia and there's loads of people here who would chant that, like they did at Dinamo game. These are miserable, small minded and people full of hate). And the cold truth is that most of these losers who chant Messi, Messi just had a higlight of the day when they "bashed" Ronaldo, because if they can't have what he has, the next best thing is to try to put him on a lower level. Small minds work like that.

Sometimes people anti-cheer Aensensen. Nothing small-minded about it. They were just trying to troll him. And he got trolled too as shown by his successful, rich and talented statement.
People love to support successful people who are humble and depreciate themselves. But Ronaldo is the opposite which is why he tends to get the hate. Most people just can't separate the persona from the player and appreciate him for what he does.
I dont think all this even bothers him as i am sure he is not someone who craves attention or wants people to like him. But he does get trolled every once in a while.

I agree. But every once in a while? :vagi:
Ronaldo is actually kinda smart, in a biography someone said (forgot) he had the potential to do well at school, he was a bright kid.

The truth is beta-males hate alpha-males. If you were asked to draw up some one who was not just intimidating physically but also success wise Cristiano would fit into such criteria. People find Messi likeable because he looks like he could lose a fight to a normal person on the street add to that he looks like he's an idiot. It's why people liked The Rain man, he was talented but you were still better than him at life. Same applies here.
typical fanboy response lol, you hate him therefore you must be jealous of him
i hate di maria and pepe much more than ronaldive, and they look like the result of humans interbreeding with different species
also massive lulz at "physically intimidating"... altidore, koller and elokobi are pretty much the only physically intimidating players out there

Che the players you mentioned as intimidating suck. You can't hate on someone who has won jack sh*t.
As for the I hate ugly people too thing the hate you have for them is different the proof is in your post. You only gave Ronaldo a nick name, you are so emtionally invested into hating him yet you are oblivious as to why. The truth is that its human nature, evolution forces you to hate the alpha-male. It's hard wired into you and many others to dislike him. It's not abput jealousy likeyou assumed.
In any case this thread is about Ronaldo appriciation not analysis.

Firstly, your theory is wrong. If it were true, then there would not be any celebrities.
Secondly, CR is not alpha male. Money wise, he is not that successful on a global level compared to certain actors etc. Looks wise, he does not look good at all, but has a nice personality but not as good as some of the global stars. If you have noticed, i have not even moved into the world of politics and business. Maybe CR can be a second tier alpha male.
So on both counts, you are wrong.

Surag wrote:Ofcourse and indeed no one is unanimously loved or hated but i like Messi more for his on-field persona ,his humble personality despite him dominating football for quite a while now.
And in this case for a player like Cristiano Ronaldo a former Ballon D'or winner ,Ex PFA player of the year,CL winner,Multiple PL title winner ,WINNING doesnt bear relevance as he is a born winner. He has been there done that ,he has been on the top of the world before but its unfortunate that he is playing in the same era thereby competing with the little Phenomenon.
No matter how much he wins ,he will be seen as an arrogant cocky bast*rd in people's eyes or atleast in my eyes.He can never gain the same level of admiration as a Del Piero or a Ronaldo for instance.
Only thing that is going to change is the perspective of Madrid Fans where he has let them down in big games. Its quite obvious that you're speaking from a Madrid perspective here.
he has actually been great for us in 80 percent of our big games..

In football the sport you love he shares the top of the pyramid with rain man so yeah he is alpha in that respect. In terms of fitness and physique he is easily amongst the upper teir in the world sport so yeah actually I am spot on. Alpha-male hate won't let some accept it though. I am very rich amd handsome but even I can't fight the primal instinct of the human race

umm alpha male ,refers t being the dominant one in your respective field , not overall. i am quite sure as a footballer he is up there in terms of money, and skills .
plus looks, he looks good, got to give him that.. sure people will always vary in terms of choice but i think its generally accepted that he does look good , no need to have a hipster judgement here..

i use ronaldive's nickname for two reasons - one, to distinguish a diving twat from a legend and two, because it flows off the tongue easier than dive maria
i'm absolutely not oblivious to why i hate him, the reasons are as follows:
1. on pitch behaviour - diving, crying, tantrums etc etc
2. probably the most punchable face in football, neck and neck with busquets
2. fanboys - everything he does is amazing, the only reason anyone would ever hate him is jealousy, bla bla bla
and where did you read that alpha male crap, cosmo?

Yes, cosmo.
It's the 21st centuray guys, the image of the alpha male is changing. Big tough guys are no longer what the populace consider alpha.
Gel, white teeth, nice tan, shaved chest, six pack abs, diamond ear rings. Wearing hot pink short shorts because who gives a sh*t I'll look good in anything. This is the new definition of this image.
As for the fan boy thing well the same applies to frodo really.

Re: Cristiano Ronaldo Fan Club
“So he is cocky? So what? Why shouldn’t he be? It is all too easily forgotten that when he made his “rich, handsome and good at football” comment his tongue was wedged at least part of the way into his cheek, that he was right, and that it is that attitude, that self-worth, that has made him the player he is. Or that it is his teams that benefit. The sheer bloody-mindedness, the obsession, the ambition, is almost suffocating and supremely impressive: the drive and determination. The relentlessness of his dedication has proven successful. Ronaldo has more than earned the right to puff out his chest; puffing out his chest has earned him the right to puff it out some more. He hasn’t always played brilliantly, of course, but nor has he ever hidden. Back in the days when people wore black boots, the very few who wore coloured ones stood out a mile. White or blue, yellow or red, the verdict was always the same: you’d better be really bloody good. Last night Ronaldo wore fuchsia.”
