R9 (Pre-injury) vs Messi

Pre 99 Ronaldo was the best player I have ever seen, bar none.

However, this is a unfair comparison for a few reasons, in fact too many to care to name.

Main one being, the only version of Ronaldo which was on this kind of level was only around for 2-3 seasons before injury put an end to it. His late Inter days, his Madrid days..he was an elite, but not pre 99 or Messi kind of level.

So we supposed to compare 2-3 to an unknown amount of Messi prime years? As soon as you do that, throw out titles won, throw out anything longeivity related.

Firstly he was a number 9, of course he isnt going to be playing the final pass as often as Messi. Thats just normal.

But when he did pass, it was anything but average.

In my opinion Ronaldo has never hit his prime. Look at his PSV days and his Inter days, even if he was incredibly good, he was improving continuously. Imagine if he wouldn't have all these injuries

Well Messi is still improving constantly, now that is scary thought.

Ronaldo was a one man team.. The guy just destroyed anyone infront of him.. I have seen Messi being stopped by Inter and Chelsea.. Ronaldo could have the whole team on him and he would still score.. That's the difference

No, thats not the only reason someone would pick Messi. Lets not pretend Messi isnt on that kind of level.

If anything, people are forgetting Ronaldo as a player in a positive way for him. Like you.

Messi didnt score vs Inter or Chelsea, but dont act like Ronaldo never had an off game. He did.

I have never seen R9 being stopped.... The only thing that stopped R9 was his injury.. He never played on a team like the current Barca (we see how Messi delivers for Argentina) Ronaldo got triple marked by the best defenders of the last 20 years and he still made a fool out of them.. Messi is being marked by Inter/chelsea/.... And he dissapears from the game.
