Archie Goodwin to Kentucky, nice pick up for them. Hopefully UConn gets Rodney Purvis now.

Yep, I thought UConn had no chance with him but when we told him we wanted him to play PG here instead of the 2-guard, I think his interest went up. He visited this past weekend.
He was originally committed to Louisville, but changed his mind.
Edit: and it's funny we never used to recruit at this level really(Nat'l championship sure helps). Even through this recruiting year I think UConn has only had 6-7 McDonalds All-Americans TOTAL since 1990(Rudy Gay, Charlie Villanueva, Kemba, Donyell Marshall, drawing a blank on the other few), compare that to Duke or UNC or UK who have at least 20 each in that same period(hell UNC has at least 5 McD AA's on their roster THIS year). And UConn still has 3 championships, IMO that just shows how good of a coach Jim Calhoun is. We're also second to Duke in terms of number of players in the NBA, but if you compare the quality UConn's alums > Duke's.
And speaking of Duke, I hope we end up in the ACC, that would be great. No doubt would be the best basketball conference(UNC, Duke, UConn, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Maryland).

It would be awesome, they would probably even move it to Madison Square Garden or maybe even the Nets new arena in Brooklyn.

Boston College blocking UConn to the ACC(or at least they're trying to). They must be mad that we're going to steal their football recruits even more than we already do : D.

The NBAPA and the owners met today for six hours... and there's no progress to report.
Well if there was any doubt, the season is definitely not starting on time. I'm hoping for December.

Another small meeting today, as usual nothing was decided.
But tomorrow is the day, there will be a huge meeting with lots of players and owners and clearly there will be a proposal.
Crossing my fingers and hoping there's an agreement tomorrow.

Went to UConns first night last night. When they introduced Kemba the place lost it. Same with Ray Allen.
But the dunk contest was the best part:
At least I got college ball to get my basketball fix if there's no NBA.

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Signs of labor optimism: Team execs cancelling scouting trips, preparing for free agency. Agents quietly reaching out to teams on players.
Sounds like a deal is about to be made. NBA's gunna be back brehs. I guess they'll probably have 30 days to have a short free agency, quick training camp, etc. Maybe 12/1?

Never supported a team tbh, wherever Shaq (fav. player of all time) played is where I would "tend" to favor.
NBA on TNT is going to be the s*it this season.

Hah, I forgot Shaq is going to be on NBA on TNT. Charles, Kenny and him are going to be hilarious together.
I don't know what I'm expecting out of the Celtics this season(assuming there's a season), this is probably one of the last years they'll be able make any type of run imo. I'm just hoping they end up as a 4 or higher seed, and they'll have a shot if everyone's healthy.

Alright well still no deal with the NBA and more games are getting cancelled.
So lets talk college basketball
Time to focus on UConn They had their first game last night against AIC.
A bit of a team preview: No Kemba Walker obviously for 2011-12 as he went to the NBA. And there's not one player that's going to replace him but they can replace his scoring numbers as a group. Jeremy Lamb is ready to step up as the primary scorer, he led the u-19 Team USA team in scoring over the summer with 17 ppg. Shabazz Napier is one of the underrated point guards in the country imo, and he's also one of the best on ball defenders. In fact the entire team should be among the best in the country defensively. FWIW(which isn't much admittedly) Napier had 15 assists, 0 turnovers in the first game and the UConn defense held AIC to two 2-pt FG's for the entire game. And then there's Alex Oriakhi, he'll be in his 3rd year now and I think being moved to the 4 with the addition of Drummond will only help Oriakhi. He'll be a mismatch sizewise with most 4's. He averaged 9.6 rebounds a game last year so him and Drummond will make one of the best 4/5 combos in the country. Drummond won't dominate the Big East imo, just because he's going to face great defenses night in/night out, but I think he's going to have a solid season regardless, average something like 13/8. At the 3 will be Roscoe Smith/DeAndre Daniels. Both are similar players with Daniels probably being better offensively, while Smith is the better rebounder/defender. Although if Daniels proves he can defend at a good level he may be the starter come tournament time.
UConns out of conference schedule is pretty weak, but there's a couple good games and Big East play(the last real season of the BE ever) will be great. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/seth_davis/10/24/Big.East/index.html
There's 3 stacked teams in UNC, UK and UConn that are favorites to be in the Final Four but there's also some really good teams a level below, like Louisville, OSU, Syracuse, Baylor etc. It should be one of the best seasons in recent memory. I think UNC and UK have slightly more talent top to bottom than UConn but it should be a dogfight if they meet in the tournament.
