Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
I found an article on Echo saying Agger could play in for Lucas. . & I instantly thought "WHY THE HELL NOT" ! ! !
The guy has the pace to go forward is great tackles! ! brilliant in the air! ! passing does beg to ask questions! bt then again his pace does tease the idea
Well my believe who ever we bring in won't be able to cover for Lucas . . so maybe look into our own rather looking elsewhere just for a short backing might not be wise!

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Why would you want to break up a CB partnership that's working so well?

ahh well to sort of make up for CM combination that was broken up . . see what i felt in the Fulham game was even with Spearing & Adam there so many long shots . .which if Lucas was there won't happen! ! the tackles he made where vital i feel maybe Agger can get in to prevent that. . Skrtel & Carra with Agger on top might just be the solution! ! it is a little too defensive but then again we r playing with a single striker & instead of Spearing i feel Agger would provide a more solid protection which would allow Adam & Hendo to roam more really freely forward. . .
then again its just an idea that i liked. . with the aggressiveness of Agger! But i totally agree with you & feel breaking the combination as strong as Agger's & Skrtel might not be wise . . . in times of adjustment it might be a good option

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Breaking up what has proven to be a solid and very successful CB combination when lacking a true DM would as likely hurt our defense as help it. Agger is at his best at CB. The defense has been at it's best this season with Skrtel beside Agger. The last thing we should be considering when without a CDM is breaking up the CB partnership as that would not only hurt confidence and chemistry in the backline, but also in the central midfield and goalkeeper. I'd rather Aurelio at DM than Agger.

Nooo i dont want Agger to lose his sharpness ...
Even if i dont make sense, I dont want Agger to shift from CB to ANYWHARERERER

This man:
With his superb intelligence, great use of both feet (and world class left foot) and technical skill, I'm sure he would make up for his lack of pace and add a touch of class to the DM position in the absence of the mighty midget Spearo.
Agger shouldn't be because a CB partnership should NOT be broken up.
My 2nd pic is none other then Martin Kelly

I agree to Reds argument . . . So testing Aurelio might not be a very bad idea. . but not Kelly ah ah ah no ! !

We've done it before. Would offer more defensive stability than a more attacking minded CM plugged into a DM hole. It's a little too negative for the likes of QPR though. No disrespect, but we need to take the attack to them, unlock their defense and score. the three CB system is meant to play on the break. See our game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last year for a good example. It worked wonders in that match, but we knew they would bring the attack to us and we could play on the break. That's more unlikely in the next few matches.

Give me credit for this people. I've been saying Aurelio even before Spearing's red card. I see only Arq and I have world class football knowledge to go with our insane handsomeness, wealth, and talent.

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Aurelio's injured...
Leave the DAgger/Skrtel partnership alone.
Right now, I'd go for a 4231 partnership, with two holding midfielders. As long as we can contain teams, and learn how to finish, we'll win 75% of our games until January.

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Who on earth would think Aurelio could play DM, i cant even remember the last time he played in the first team. DM is probably the hardest position to play as you cover a lot of ground, for me aurelio was finished a long time ago

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
He's covered the position, and done so well, several times in the last few seasons, actually. He's probably the closest we have to an actual DM in the squad at the moment.FootballFan92 wrote:Who on earth would think Aurelio could play DM, i cant even remember the last time he played in the first team. What Red said basically, Aurelio is great at DM, only problem with him is we don't even know if he'll stay fit or not.
And @ynwa......Aurelio is fit, he gave an interview about two weeks ago saying how happy he was to finally be back to fitness and be available for the coach to be chosen.

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Guys how about Conor Coady?......He's a center midfielder, but also plays defense for the reserves......I can't believe i didnt think of him sooner, IMO he's the perfect replacement for Lucas

He's been mentioned. He's neither experienced or old enough for the job.

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Cody can chip-in with a few games here & there and act as substitute in some games, but he is long way 3-4 years from beign considered as an regular replacement.
