Dalglish added: "We've got adequate replacements and if we need somebody we'll have a look, but I don't think we need anybody."

Bids being lined up for either of Martinez, M'Villa or Bender.

I myself feel a more immediate replacement is needed most probably on loan . . But first would really like to see how things span out for Spearing & maybe a little bit of Coady

As much as I want Spearing and Coady to step up, I would say Spearing is a decent squad player. Can do his job when called for like the CC game.
Coady, I think, still has time to develop. He is 18. Say he spends time till the summer of 2013 here. He would be 20 then. And then a season long loan with some lower premiership side or top championship side. He would be ready then.

Well The King has shown great trust on youngsters during the end of last season. . so maybe who knows what he might conjure ! !

Having recalled Jonjo Shelvey from Blackpool, one journalist quizzed Dalglish on whether he would consider doing similar with Alberto Aquilani, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.
"I think if you look at the rules you'll find it's not possible," he replied.
Well I guess that answers that! ! The King's Speech

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
The suggestion of Lass on loan isn't a bad one. I had thought we would need to buy him which implies turning around and selling him. While Lass isn't as dynamic a player as Lucas, I think his services on loan could be precisely what we need atm. He's certainly capable of covering the CB's and the fullback's attacking runs. Moreover, if he plays well, this could be the catalyst he needs to reignite his career. He looks to be buried on the bench at Madrid. It seems all the more incentive for him to come. The big question is if Madrid would be willing to loan him out, or are they looking to sell him outright.
Don't get me wrong, I like Spearing, and I think he has something to offer, but I'm not comfortable with him being the only option in the halding midfield role. I suppose Coady could be used occasionally (much as Flanagan and Robinson were last season). However, the difference between that situation and this one is that we know Lucas will be out for the season, and we have the opportunity to find a proper replacement for the season. Flano and Robinson got time because there were few other good options in the "home stretch: of the season.

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
I think that this would never happen and whatever but heck....Anthony Anan is another player who I think can adequately Lucas' boots and still have a space in the squad afterwards as well as he will probably be cheaper than anyone suggested so far..
Keita might be a bit off the pace......
Don't think Lass is available
Martinez is interesting.....he and Lucas can play together.

I rather we signed Immaculate_Mole on a wheelchair than Lee Cattermole. Lee Cattermole is so brainless, he is not even good enough for Sunderland

Honestly though. Fernando Lucas Martins. Absolute gun. Name's Lucas, plays from the same team as Leiva used to and is a boss like Leiva.
M'vila and Martinez would be my FM/Fifa replacements.

He's amazing.
I will admit, I've only seen him play once but he is that good.

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
I don't think anyone can truly replace him.
He is a top 3 DM after all......already missed tonight with the holes available to their forwards for long range shots. I honestly think, our top 4 chances went to t*ts after his injury blow.

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Our midfield is non existent while defense ..
Spearing ran lot, yes .. But he can't replace LUCAS.
Adam and Hendo are superb in attack, Yes .. But a sideways pass and both them switch off ... they see the other player run at the defense at take a shot.
Reina is used to Lucas spoon feeding him and not giving room for any shots.. But with lazy guys like Adam and Hendo he will be very busy and he needs to understand that ..
The next part is counter attacks ,Adam and Hendo are usually high up the pitch ..and yesterday we have superb to shit passing all the time.. Spearing could not break up the play or make important interceptions..
Im not saying Spearo was bad yesterday or something. What im saying is we need a DM like Parker or SOng.. Who cover the back four effectively and can make great attacking passes as well..
tbh i don't see this midfield winning agst any of the big six teams in the return leg .. Something has to be done .. Im worried. ..

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov would swap his current situation with any Liverpool player in order to fulfil his dream of playing for the Reds.
The 32-year-old began his career in his native Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia before being granted a move to Celtic in the summer of 1999.
It was not until 2006 that Petrov finally realised his ambition of playing in the Barclays Premier League, when he move to Villa Park for £6.5 million.
Petrov, however, still wishes he had signed had moved to Anfield, having grown up as a Liverpool fan.
"I'd swap with any Liverpool player because I'm a Liverpool fan," he told Match of the Day Magazine.
"It'd be great to have that experience. But sometimes dreams don't come true.
"I've been a Liverpool fan since a young boy."
ermm LOL?

Re: Who should/can replace Lucas?
I found an article on Echo saying Agger could play in for Lucas. . & I instantly thought "WHY THE HELL NOT" ! ! !
The guy has the pace to go forward is great tackles! ! brilliant in the air! ! passing does beg to ask questions! bt then again his pace does tease the idea
Well my believe who ever we bring in won't be able to cover for Lucas . . so maybe look into our own rather looking elsewhere just for a short backing might not be wise!
