Re: The Lebanese NT Thread !
I hope both Saudi and Bahrain get knocked out. Absolutely hate their football teams. Pots like this for next round will be ideal:
Pot 1: Australia, Japan
Pot 2: S.Korea, Iran
Pot 3: Uzbekistan, Iraq
Pot 4: Jordan, Qatar
Pot 5: Oman, Lebanon
Then groups:
A: Australia, Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Oman
B: Japan, Korea, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Lebanon
Pot 1: Australia, Japan
Pot 2: S.Korea, Iran
Pot 3: Uzbekistan, Iraq
Pot 4: Jordan, Qatar
Pot 5: Oman, Lebanon
Then groups:
A: Australia, Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Oman
B: Japan, Korea, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Lebanon

Re: The Lebanese NT Thread !
I'd be tentatively optimistic if we came into a group like that.
I think we can take Qatar and Iran. Australia and Iraq would be tough though since they are in good form.
Anyway I hope we just qualify

In 2002 World Cup qualifiers, Bahraini's cheated and grassrolled like crazy and attempted to food poison the Iranian players, and when they beat Iran in last game to deny them qualification, they danced around the field with SAUDI flag to rub it in despite the fact that Bahrain finished 4th in the group themselves. It was an absolute disgrace . Thankfully, Karma came back to hunt them ever since and 2 times, Bahrain were denied qualification in the last step (vs Tobago and NZ) and in 2005, Iran qualified by beating them and unlike such a low class trashy team, actuallly celebrated with their own flag and identity, instead of some another country.
and funnily enough, their faith is in Iran's hand and they should beg Iran to take their last game seriously for Bahrain to have any chance
@ Zealous: pfft, Sir Carlos Quiroz will wipe the floor with Omani coach when it comes to tactics :bball:

+1 for describing why i hate these 2 teams. they're absolutely disgraceful and unprofessional.
Hope we don't beat Qatar just to make Bahrain butthurt.

I am sure the Bahraini people will not celebrate with the Saudi flag this time around after the Saudi tanks steamrolled through them last year.
I don't remember what happened in 2002, but Bahrain is called the Saudi bar for a reason. Usually, only the matches between Iran-Saudi and Iran-Iraq take such hostile feelings. I also hope Saudi don't qualify, they disgrace Asia with poor performances every WC and with the media circus that is their coaching revolving door and royal entourages controlling the team.

Re: The Lebanese NT Thread !
Abbas Hasan (Sweden) 26years old GK (198cm tall) is already in Beirut, he had his 1st training session with the Lebanese NT yesterday. Abbas played for Sweden U21, he wants to play for Lebanon, after the tryouts if Coach Bucker wants him to stay, the lebanese federation will contact the fifa to see if can play for Lebanon.
The Lebanese federation is also negotiating with Sony Saad (U.S.A) , Adnan Haidar (Norway) , Tarek El Rich (Australia) & other 2 players playing in Sweden.
------------
~ Upcoming Friendly Matches:
Lebanon Vs Iraq - 22/1/2011 , Stadium | Tripoli
Also Lebanon Will play against Cote de voir in beirut on 17/1/2012 , Cote de voir assures that all The stars will play includin Drogba, Yaya Toure.
Lebanon will also play a match vs Qatar in qatar [23 Feb] before traveling to face UAE ( away) on 29 February in final match of 3rd round [WC 2014 Qualifiers]!
`Note: Lebanon needs a draw vs Uae to secure their qualification to 4th & final round (top 10 in asia) without loooking at the result between S.Korea & Kuwait in Seoul.

Re: The Lebanese NT Thread !
No, it was a totally different strategy imo.
The strategy back then was naturalizing the foreigners who was playing in the Lebanese league.. and they was not that great.
The players was:
Newton (Ansar, Brazilian)
Gilberto dos Santos (Nejmeh, Brazilian)
Marcilio (Al Akhaa, Brazilian)
Luis Fernandez (Shabab El-Sahel, Brazilian)
Michael Reda (Homentmen, Australian Lebanese who played 7 unsuccessful games)
And let me tell you something, the new German coach, Theo Bucker, came with the national team with a totally new mentality.. which is totally different from the typical arabian-lebanese mentality.
I'm sure he knows what he is doing

i agree with geo.. its differrent now, the players that might join NT are playing in leagues better than our league.
Theo bucker did a great job to bring confidence back to our players..
finally, the federation is working, they are doing a great job..
btw we will have a Lebanese Nt for U-22 that will participate in Asia 2013 ( new tournament ) , with a new foreign coach [ to be assigned ].

Re: The Lebanese NT Thread !
Friendly Match: Lebanon 1 - 0 Iraq FT
~ Goal: Ahmad Zraik [assist by Mahmoud El-Ali]
Big game for Lebanon, very solid defence, had more possession in more parts of the game, created about 4 goalscoring chances vs 1 or 2 for Iraq..
Plus we has a denied penalty in the 1st half:P
2 new aboard players started in this match: Abbas Hasan (GK) & Nader Matar (Midifelder), both had a decent performance.
Both teams [Iraq & Lebanon] had some missing players:
- Lebanon played without Roda Antar, Youssef Mohammad, Hasan Maatouk, Abbas Atwi, Ramez Dyoub, Mohammad Ghaddar [ Reason: Playing with their Clubs outside Lebanon in UAE, China & Malaysia]

We'll probably use this friendly as a warm up only for the Japan game. I don't expect us to play 100% at all lol.

There was a mini strike in the Lebanon camp in Muscat.
Hope this doesn't affect the game, we want to use it as a great warm up, if Lebanon don't put in much effort then the friendly would be pointless for us
