His scoring record is a bit too good im afraid.

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
I will be so so so so so disappointed in Liverpool if we acquire a 28 year old mid-table club poacher for a price which is twice as he is actually worth.
His goal scoring record is good and not great. This will be a massive embarrassment if he does come as I would only take him for 5 mil and nothing more.
Plus aside from his poaching, he offers NOTHING else.

Liverpool considering Mauro Zarate loan signing to cover for suspended Suarez.

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
I'm not sold on Zarate. Sure, there is talent, but I've heard of dressing room issues and a selfishness on the pitch. These could be completely unfounded. I'm just not convinced this would be a positive move. I mean, there has be a reason Lazio loaned him to Inter, who would then be loaning him to us. (Similar situation to Pacheco, no?)

Zarate?
No.
Wouldn't take him.

I don't have a problem with him. He's a good player and fits the mold of what we need. I can't really see it being too serious considering our transfer policy, though. Bent's not getting any younger at 28, and he's not exactly been raking in the goals at Villa (could be down to service and McCleish style football). More importantly, he's going to be seriously over-priced. There are probably better long-term option out there, but they are not "BPL prove."
My other problem with the move is that it will most likely be the beginning of the end for Carroll in an LFC shirt. Bent is no "cover buy" for Suarez's ban. If we purchase him it will be to partner Suarez going forward. Carroll will effectively be relegated to the bench indefinitely, or waiting to be sent out on loan (possibly the better option).
If Bent comes, I won't be displeased with him being in the squad. I may be displeased with the amount we paid for him and the subsequent opportunity cost.
I think LFC should look into Quagliarella instead of this Mauro Zarate crap. He's a quality striker that isn't getting a run out at Juventus under the new coach, Conte. He needs a team, and we need a complete forward... Just saying...

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
If we do sign a striker in January, it should either be a young (19-22) player who will continue to be a cover, competition & option for our front-line (specially given the fact, Kuyt & Maxi are at the fag-end of their career). Otherwise it should be a Raul/RVN/Henry like player for 1-1.5 years.
I'm not sure Bent can come out of his current stupor in a snap. Add to that the price-tag & his fitness record, it looks very meh.

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
Zarate is trash..But a loan deal looks like worth taking a risk..Plus he also has PL experience under his belt having previously starred with Birmingham..
He is not the player he was at Lazio in his first season thats for sure..He would provide good width and probably would do better than Downing i reckon..

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
I would say Kenny has enough money for potentially anyone who he wanted to sign, whether or not the owners would now give him the full backing to sign that player is different after him buying, well, mediocre players and not having a great deal of points half way through the season.
The owners desperately want CL next season so i think anything could happen in this window.

Lot's of rumours on RAWK.
Soldado, Kawaga and Hunterlaar the best out of the pick. Doubt any of it's true though. Nothing confirmed, so don't get too excited.

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
stephen1martin6 is a bit reliable i think.
Remember him often having conversations with Jim Boardman in twitter during summer. Also said we are in talks to sign a CB playing in South America (Coates) even before the rumors of Coates emerged.
Hopefully rumors of Coates is true.He is the one player i want see us sign more than anyone else.

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
Why don't we sign Guardado.
Improvement over Downing IMO.....will come cheap...nearing his prime......fantastic player really.
We'd probably get him for 2-3 million at the most 5.
