Re: Give your favorite Milan line up for next year
OK I've been through the pages and saw some hilarious posts. But before I begin, PerSempreJuve, are you Juvenelcuore?
So what is all the crying about? Milan don't contribute to the Italy team? WAAAAA WAAAAAAAAAA!
Like Giancarlo said, quality>nationality. The fact that we have the likes of world class un-Italians Pato, Ibrahimovich and Thiago Silva and Juve have average Italian pippas like Marco Motta, Simone Pepe and Luca Toni is the reason why AC Milan are the Champions of Italy and Juventus is 7th.
I respect Juventus and their contribution to La Nazionale A LOT, but you my dear sir is acting like every single player with an Italy cap are from Juventus and Milan did nothing for the National Team. Who has the highest caps as a player and captain for Italy? Paolo Maldini. An AC Milan legend. Who was Italy's best player on field player in the victorious 2006 World Cup? Andrea Pirlo. Who was doing all the dirty workd in the midfield? Gennaro Gattuso. There were a fair number of players from Milan in the 2006 World Cup (Pirlo, Nesta, Gattuso, Inzaghi) and also in the 1994 World Cup, it was Maldini and Baresi's superb defending (along with Baggio's magic) which lead Italy to the final. In the final a one legged Baresi and Maldini cold not be breached by the likes of Romario. And have you ever heard of Gianni Rivera? The greatest. When knowledgeable people debate about who is the Greatest Italian Player Of All Time, it is between Rivera and Valentino Mazzola. Rivera was voted as the Greatest Italian Footballer of the 20th Century, do you know where he played? AC Milan, where he won 2 European Cups (funnily the same number Juventus won in their in their entire history)
He was the hero of the Game Of The Century and could have won a World Cup, but Italy was outdid by the greatest international team of all time (1970 Brazil). And there were more great Italians who played for Milan(Tassoti, Capello, Trapatonni, Loddeti, Costacurta, Anceolotti, Cesare Maldini I could go all day)
I've noticed you have been glorifying Juventus by adding player who are your youth products, played at Juve post retirement, used the toilet in Juve's stadium. You might as well add Rossi and Matri to Milan then LOL. We will most probably get Astori, that's another Italian along with Cassano in the National Team line up, Prandelli has confirmed that if Abate continues his tremendous form he will get a call up as will Abbiati, Paloshci plays in the U21 National Team. We might get Montolivo or El Shaarawy who are Italians as well.
I'm done here, have a nice day

If you wish to discuss contributions to the national team for each club, go make a thread in the Serie A section.
Otherwise, give your favourite Milan line up for next year or get out of this thread.
Also Izzy, cool sig.

Haha I haven't read through everything but responses were needed, five pages was a tad excessive though. : P
Also on topic, given that people are including transfers such as Ganso or Aquilani I might wait and see how our market shapes up, not to mention not wishing to include Poli until we have him in the bag. I agree with Iras' earlier post though in that I'm almost certain Gattuso will begin at RCM, then we shall see if Boateng successfully transfers back into midfield or whether Flamini or a new purchase rises up. Gattuso may still hold his spot for important matches however, dependent on fitness and our schedule.

What about our captain, Ambrosini? I can't see Boateng getting dropped and I envision Gattuso starting most games. At the same time I think Boateng-Ambrosini-Gattuso would be fatal to our chances of scoring. Even Seedorf-Ambrosini-Boateng isn't going to work well. Would it be wise to drop Van Bommel? He was arguably our best midfielder in the second half of the season. Then comes the question of our new midfield signing... even if they're a CAM, they will be competing with Robinho and Cassano for the only spot. If they're a LCM, Boateng will then have to play CAM, especially given Seedorf's recent underwhelming performances there. Some tough decisions are going to have to be made unless we have an injury crisis of last season's proportions.

I think Ambrosini has a chance of starting alongside Van Bommel if both display their best form, however initially certainly I expect either Gattuso or Flamini beside one of them. I think one thing that hasn't really been considered yet is the possiblity that Boateng may actually not be a part of the first eleven as the season develops. He's a fan favourite certainly, and I like him, however if he's given a healthy rotation then our transfer market may actually conspire to bench Prince. He's been unfairly maligned for his performances behind the strikers, however part of returning to the summit of Europe is having a flexible squad where more than 11 have the quality to start. We'll judge on the basis of how creative our reinforcements are.

Re: Give your favorite Milan line up for next year
I think we'll need to rotate Ambro and Van Bommel there both the wrong side of 30 so don't expect either to have a stranglehold on the position. Prince should be a starter, popularity aside, if he maintains his form. Flamini is the wild card. I can't see him as a starter but he deserves it as soon as Gattuso is unavailable or form drops

Re: Give your favorite Milan line up for next year
I think Van Bommel pretty much won his spot in the starting line up. I don't believe Allegri will drop him. Ambrosini has fitness issues these days. And I don't really see Gattuso starting many matches.
And someone said he can name two Italians better than our non-Italians. Baloney. Ibra is way better than any Italian striker. Pato is miles better than Matri and Pazzini. Thiago Silva was by far the best CB in Italy. Don't even try to name Chiellini or Ranocchia. They don't even come close. And Taiwo is certainly better than any Italian LB (Taiwo > Balzaretti).

I still don't think Ganso would be effective as an LCM if he comes. I think Allegri may drop Boateng back to midfield, and put Ganso as an CAM. Boateng isn't great as a CAM. I think he would be more useful further back.

Re: Give your favorite Milan line up for next year
I see the midfield having Gattuso and Flamini rotating the RCM role
Van Bommel and Ambrosini handling the CM but Ambrosini could play as LCM alongside Van Bommel.
LCM will be split with Mr. XYZ & Emanuelson with Ambrosini possibly slipping in a few times.
Boateng will probably remain behind the strikers unless we pick up a another CAM or Trequartista then he may move back but it's still unlikely.

That's because there wasn't really anyone better at his disposal. Robinho and Cassano are most effective playing alongside a striker.
Rest assured, if we get Ganso it'll be for a price... and I highly doubt that Ganso will be sitting on the bench or playing a role he isn't greatly effective in. We're the team that got in 7th place. We don't play players out of position... we get the best out of them.
I don't see it unlikely that we will get a trequartista, Izzy. I see it as highly possible that we will get Ganso or someone else for that role.

No, you misunderstood me or maybe I didn't write it correctly, but I meant it's unlikely Boateng will move back to midfield. There is a very high chance we may sign someone for that role now. I just feel Boateng's attack mindset won't bring much to the midfield defensively and he also prefers to lend a foot on the buildup before finding himself in the box. Now I know some don't agree with Ganso at LCM but from what I've seen he can perform well there, but I have never seen a game where he plays as a AM. He's physical, isn't very fast, and can hold on to the ball with his incredible dribbling as well as distribute it where he likes. Too me that just seems like the role he is meant for.

Then we have a problem, because I do see us signing an attacking midfielder... and that Boateng will be dropped to the bench. I don't see him playing behind two strikers if we sign Ganso, and I do see Ganso being in the role where he is most effective.

Well I don't find it too be a problem because I wouldn't mind someone a little more efficient in the CAM role. Boateng could use that extra competition and who knows we might sign Asamoah and then Boateng would be stuck on the bench. He isn't a key player in my eyes but it's nice having him on the field.

So how about your LB situation?
Taiwo appears to be a lock with Didac and Emanuelson as cover....where does this leave Antonini then?
Maybe it might be Didac that's left out in the cold, but that seems rather crass to me, considering how new he still is to the Milan setup..
