AA out for 15, with Henderson in for 13 + N'gog? I rate AA highly, but that's brilliant if we do that ^.

So rumors suggest we are going to go after Charlie Adam as well. I'm hoping this isn't true. We have enough of central midfielders as it is.

Would be properly surprising. Perhaps only rumours.
If we buy both Hendy & Adam, we surely shall loan Shelvey out. Or what a bomb it'd be if Gerrard wanted out

Re: Summer Silly Season: Official Thread
It's on Guardian and Soccernet as well.
Reportedly £ 20m, but a part of that value is N'Gog, right?
Gotta say that's a big deal in any case... We over-paid on Carroll, I'm feeling we're overpaying here a little.. hopefully it doesn't become a habit with our club.
Great to see an exciting signing, though!!

SSN saying Ngog is part of the deal.
13M + Ngog.
Now we have a reason to watch England in u-21.
Jones and Wickham next please, so we can put focus on foreign signings after

Its still not on the Liverpool Site.
So we know nothing about Ngog there or not.. Waiting for them to post an article..

Arquitecto wrote:I'm sorry to have a negative input here, but does anyone think Henderson is overhyped?
I might be wrong as I haven't exactly seen all the sunderland games, but every time I have seen him he has not impressed me so much in anyway.
I understand he still may be raw and under the tutelage of Kenny, Clarke and the Liverpool way, he may blossom. But is he really worth the 15 we are paying for him? I feel it could have been invested into a proven player who has time on his side.
Anyone here want to convince me otherwise? I hope I am wrong.
I was (and still is) lukewarm towards the Henderson issue. I still believe that £10 million is a fair valuation so we are paying a bit over the head. I consider bundling Ngog is a great piece of business. Though it may appear that we are paying more, this actually utilizes an idle resource.
Being very young, Henderson hands us TWO advantages. First, he hasn’t achieved anything yet. With the lure of national (youth or senior) call-up and fellow youngsters (Spearing, Shelvy) around, he will be forced to play for his (professional) life. This is in stark contrast to the likes of Poulsen who (thinks) have got it all and now just chill at our expense.
Second, the player amortization issue. The purchase cost will be spread over 4-5 years. In the worst case scenario if Henderson turns out to be a dud after 2-3 seasons we will be able to recoup some of the investments. Again, this is easier for younger players who have a longer shelf-life.
I’m not thrilled but this is a safe bet. We have reason to be optimistic (specially given that a no-hoper like Spearing blossomed under Kenny).

Re: Summer Silly Season: Official Thread
I have no problem with this transfer. Quite happy with it to be honest. Getting a English u21 with PL experience who wants to be at Liverpool. (i assume we are not kidnapping him).
13 million for a player who could play for us for over 10 years if he is good enough.
At the end of the day, if the King thinks he's good enough, then he's god enough.

Re: Summer Silly Season: Official Thread
im reading a little bit Sunderlands forums right now,
and the general feeling im having from most of them is that basically they say:
if its 20mil its a good deal for them,
but if its 13mil+Ngog, its already less good.
basically what some of us were saying too i think: afloading Ngog and paying 13mil certainly look better.

Just for the record..
Guardian and Times where the sites that called the Henderson transfer first.. Guardian was first between them.
BBC called it 1 day before the fee was agreed.
So now we know who to trust..

Wickham.
hes seems to be a very excting prospect but one part on my mind isnt very keen on him
isnt he too similar to Carroll?
just imagine in a few years when hes ready to be in the starting line up, could he partner Carroll in attack? (both 1.91 target men....).......dont think so..

Re: Summer Silly Season: Official Thread
ahhh now it seems im new here after missing out on almost the whole day of transfer rush . .now only interesting thing to put forward is that some sites are saying that there would be TWO medicals today in Melwood . .Henderson (for all certainty) & Phil Jones. . now Skybet has suspended betting on Jones coming to Liverpool as they think the transfer is done but now there rumors that he is going for a MEDICAL in ManU . . so where is he actually going for a medical! ! & are there any reliable sources suggesting Jones going for a medical anywhere! !

Re: Summer Silly Season: Official Thread
Jones would be nice, but the "news" is atm that he's ending up at Man United...
Anyway, it's a fine fine start to kick-off our transfer window with a £ 15m+ deal
Hoping that Ngog is going to Sunderland but it's starting to look as if that's not the case.
