Van persie is too good for arsenal.

What's the point of this troll thread? If van Persie is too good for Arsenal then Messi is too good for Barcelona, Ronaldo is too good for Real Madrid etc. He's our best player and i'm happy he's with us, apparently this 16 years old Milanfan is jealous lol.

...I just hope our board offers him a better contract financially because he deserves it.

Is this true that RVP put transfer request and Arsenal rejected it? i doubt it's true, I can see him staying till summer but if Wenger doesn't buy at least 3 quality players, RVP won't renew his contract.

Trolling aside I agree with Cyber here, advancing your career is natural for any top player so while most would agree RVP is a great, many neutrals would hesitate to really put him at the top of the footballing pyramid if he wasn't competing for top honours in England and Europe.

Having said that it does seem Van Persie actually cares about the crest on his kit so that might out weight everything else.

But what more can he do? I agree that at Club Level, he could be at a more... determined... club, but at International level he was just in a WC final and is poised to have a great Euro campaign. But it is hard to argue about his legacy if he is not consistently fighting for honours at both club and international level bc at the end of the day, players are remembered by ppl (in a broad sense) for their honours.

I more or less agree with you but with international football your contribution isn't truly remembered unless you have a glory moment. For example for Spain Iker had a 1v1 save in the final, Iniesta scored the winner. Those two will be remembered more fondly imo. I remember Ramos missing a free header, he was the best right back at the tournament by a long way, had he scored people would have remembered that but since he didn't it won't be brought up.

Van Persie is a fantastic footballer but he didn't have a glory moment yet. Snejider's came against Brazil, Robben against Uruguay etc.

It's seems obvious at this point if Van Persie decides to have a long term career at Arsenal he'll be a club legend and he would have earned it but like I said the problem is if you don't at least consistently show up at the later stages of big tournaments it's hard for people to remember you.

It's a shame but it's the nature of the beast I'm afraid.

But who knows Zico played for Flamengo almost his whole career and he's a legend despite not winning the world cup. If you can reach crazy levels of performance then maybe you can be remembered.

Arsenal are a very big club, their transfer policy holds them back but one bad year doesn't mean their top man should desert them.

If they neglect to bring in top players in the summer then it might be a different story.
