Infact Lavezzi is already making noises of moving away from Napoli.Also didnt Hamsik say it would be a dream to play for Milan in last june ?

Only since CL came into existence.The CL had made football change a lot in last 10-12 years imho.

They were courted heavily by all three clubs in the last 3 years, the Hamsik quote was newspaper talk, and Lavezzi is the only one putting some noise.

theres a thread in the rightback section comparing him to rooney, but rooney does it in the bigger games and situations which RVP isnt involved in due to arsenal

rooneys making utd tick in europe and in the league, his great performances are being held up against RVPs goals in nothing games v Sunderland / blackburn etc

ur 100% right, but is trolling arsenal really necessary in this way?

Players even move from one big team to another for the possibility of more success. Arsenal have just as much of a chance of righting the ship and improving in the off-season as anyone (although some factors might point to that NOT happening), and if Van Persie wants to stay loyal to his team than fair play to him.

and furthermore, Van Persie gets to play on a big stage in more important games with Holland than Roonay has been able to play in. Not saying that England wont be in with a shout in the Euro, but its a fair point to bring up.

Trolling aside I agree with Cyber here, advancing your career is natural for any top player so while most would agree RVP is a great, many neutrals would hesitate to really put him at the top of the footballing pyramid if he wasn't competing for top honours in England and Europe.

Having said that it does seem Van Persie actually cares about the crest on his kit so that might out weight everything else.

mmmm... yes and no, he was part of a successful team. Ill leave it at that. The point is its not like he plays for relegation battlers and no-hopers internationally. He has a chance to showcase his skills on the big stage plenty. Maybe not as much as a Roonay, Messi, or Robben, but he is there (sometimes)

But what more can he do? I agree that at Club Level, he could be at a more... determined... club, but at International level he was just in a WC final and is poised to have a great Euro campaign. But it is hard to argue about his legacy if he is not consistently fighting for honours at both club and international level bc at the end of the day, players are remembered by ppl (in a broad sense) for their honours.

People say that if RVP stay he will be remembered by the fans. While that is true another player half as good as RVP will be remembered more if he wins something for/with the team.

You can have the best player in the world in your team but if you dont bring any trophies he wont be recognized the same way

You as a Utd fan should know that if players stick around, sooner or later success will come. How do you think SAF transformed Utd? By keeping squad together?

Look at Real Madrid, buying players from left to right, and winning nothing. Why? Because they cant buy chemistry.

Barca's success comes from homegrown players who were raised to play ONE game.

Unfortunately, our board refuses to keep senior players due to big wages. I dont have any idea when they will stop that.

A bigger picture is too big for some people here.

And I dont agree with the idea of moving to a club and win trophies.

Inter is one example with Sneijder, Lucio and co.. but thats rare.

Thierry Henry won the CL but nobody mentions his contribution at barca. Imagine had he won at Arsenal.
