Alves is better overall but marcelo is quite good and is very young

Marcelo has improved greatly and he can achieve great things in the future no doubt.

Defensively, his only real Kryptonites man to man are Pedro and Navas. I haven't really seen him get pawned badly by anyone else.

Marcelo joins this list of players Madrid have supposedly better then the Barca counterparts. Long list now with Alonso, Benzema, Ozil all better then Xavi, Villa and Iniesta apperently amoung the rest.

I dont want to get Off topic but, I belive Marcelo is better than Alves.

Alves and Marcelo share the same issue. They position themselves bad and Alves has proven in the Brazil NT that his defending is suspect. Possession is the greatest defence in the end IMO.

Marcelo doesn't get this support yet he does as good as he should. He is 22 years old and I rate him very highly. Yes this might be biased but I'd prefer Marcelo over Alves.

Provides more entertainment is also a plus.

What i dont understand, is why some here NEED Marcelo to be considered the best already.

How old is the kid? 22? 23? He has yet to enter his prime, while Alves is well in his prime.

the differences between them just in terms of maturity is evident.

Alves is the better fullback, and it's not an insult for Marcelo' skill level at the moment.

Marcelo is only 23

Lets see what happens when he is 28, at 23 Alves had just begun to make a name for himself.

I think within 5 years Marcelo can give Alves a run for his money
