Messi becomes 2nd highest goalscorer ever for Barca

Kubala, the club's second highest goalscorer, took 12 years between 1950 and 1962 to reach that tally. Messi has taken just seven since making his debut in 2004 for the Catalan club.

Sport.es reports the 24-year-old has now hit 127 goals in La Liga, 39 in the Champions League, 17 in the Copa del Rey, eight in the Spanish Supercup, two in the Club World Cup, and one in the European Supercup.

To become the club's all-time highest scorer Messi will need to beat Cesar Rodriguez's tally of 235.

Also now 7th (39goals) as all time Uefa Champions League scorer with Morientes.

Shouldn't be too hard for him for Messi. His Messi! He only has to get 48 more goals to beat Cesar Rodriguez record. I'm sure he will able to do that before this season even finishes. "Too optimistic"

Prob will get it this season barring any injuries, if not then most likely the start of next season.

Phenomenal the rate at which he is scoring though....

I would have to agree with this assessment. A noteworthy achievement at 24 nevertheless.
