Will messi be the player to have the highest number of goals in one season?!

The season is just half way and at the end of last season messi and cr7 scored a total of 53 goals and now just half way in the season,messi already has 51 goals. However,messi reems to be scoring more in the champions league while CR7 scores more in the liga BBVA.

Last season he had more aswell but that didnt stop ronaldo from scoring more. But yeah you're right.

Ronaldo to me is more of a goal machine just that messi seem to out score him more in the UCL

I believe the record is held by Dixie Dean. Some people say it's 60 goals, others say it's more. That was in the league only however so it's quite impressive.

There are others from leagues around the world who have scored 60+ as well, although the quality of their league's at the time was questionable, to say the very least.

If Messi can score 70 I think we can safely conclude the record will be his. I personally think he'll finish on around 62-63.

Can someone provide us with these stats? The number of goals scored by Ronaldo, all comps, and in La Liga, and the same for Messi....

Correct, back then, defenders could get away with quite literal murder. The object was to see how many knee caps you could rupture in a season. Forget keeping your eye on the ball, a centre back's eyes were always on a striker's ankle, waiting to scythe it down like a twig

In the early days, football heavily favoured defenders and strikers had minimal protection. To score 67 and 74 goals respectively in that sort of atmosphere is mind boggling and not something that should be taken lightly
