Yup 2nd game in row being the best in mid and in his position. Do you still think he lost it ( its towards members who said in the summer that pirlo ain't what he was anymore)

When he was younger he ran more than today. He would intercept more because of the higher workrate he used to have.

He's got experience now, though. So you could say that's how he's coped with it.

Sorry Devi, but the Pirlo of old would make me look at winder at the sheer genius he provides. I concur that this Pirlo is like the one of old, but the thing with age is that it robes you of consistency. It is good that he went to Juve, because I don't think he would as performed if he stayed in Milan given that he is not the center of the system.

Hopefully he plays like this for Juve the whole season, beautiful to watch.

he's still good. i think he takes something away from being in a midfield (being slow etc). but if he plays well than what he can add to the midfield will outweigh it. i don't really know much about his consistency though

he reminds me of stankovic in a way. i think stankovic in his prime was so underrated, he was a complete midfielder. but now his pace has gone and he totally lost consistency. even misplacing simple short passes which would have been a piece of cake in his prime. but every now and then he has a game where he bounces back to his old form. if pirlo loses consistency he'll be like stankovic for us. on form being good enough for first team, but off form dragging us down so much

Its not about his skills, its about his defensive abilities, and they have been reduced with age. Less intensity and pace, and it is perhaps not noticeable against smaller teams, but against top opposition the midfield can be run over if too slow.

The guy totally lost it, he performed against Parma and Bologna, lets wait and see how he performs against a faster and a little bit more dominant mid that actually presses.

In Juve this season he might be just OK since there wont be much game load on him, one game a week he can manage that but even with that he find a tough time against better opponents and surely Juve's defence will have to suffer from some of his mistakes if he is playing as deep play maker.

what pirlo does to make up for his lack of defensive work is basically make a goal from nothing.

50 yards out, overhead throughball leaving the defense for dead, latched onto by another juve player to slot home easily.

I see this happening alot with pirlo. Hes always looking to do something and more times than not he pulls it off.

Pirlo is still maestro of the midfield. His creative skills have gone nowhere, but pace and consistency...

We shall see about the consistency then as only time will tell. So far so good but to be fair the opposition hasn't been exactly top class..

I said it in my other thread, the man is the best CM in europe atm bar none. Exceptional. If he gets injure juve ar finished just like if messi gets injured for barca or rooney for us.

Since I have watched football there are few people that I think that I think that come close to michael Laudrups genius, Pirlo, xavi, scholes, zidane and messi are the only players ive seen that are fit to wipe his boots.

for his speed I agree but Marchisio and Vidal cover for his lost speed and lost defensive skills

Pirlo's passing remains top-notch IMO... I know that he's lost a lot of his speed, but his passing (his greatest asset) is still amazing. He showed that in all 3 games this season, our best player.

He'll be very influential during big games...

i really dont understand those who keep mentioning the pace that pirlo presumably lost.
since when did pirlo use his pace as a part of his game? pirlos game is a lot more based on skills than physical attributes... even his workrate hasnt dropped much if at all imo...
the way i see it, consistency was his only problem in the last few years (and being surrounded by players who truly declined).

id love to see him keep his form (but have an off-match next week)
