Janurary Transfer Window. Empty Janurary Transfer Window.

Post by lszanto Tue Sep 20, 2011 6:58 am

I got the idea for this off of WAGNH and thought it would be a good thread.

We're 5 games in 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss and starting to play much better football imo.

I still think there are some issues such as defence etc.

Anyways on to the thread.

In:
  • Some sort of progress with Inkoom, really keen to see this guy brought to CFC, with some polishing I feel he could be a real gem
  • De Bruyne, either a loan back or some sort of deal agreed for him, as i'm sure it will be
  • Not exactly a new signing, but I feel McEachran should be played, hopefully Fulham will see him get some time, but last week we saw Malouda playing mid against Lever, I would have loved to have seen McEachran on the pitch instead.

Out:

  • Kalou, doesn't have enough to offer the club imo, only time he should get time is in cups etc where i'd much prefer youth to be given a shot over him.
  • Sorting out the CBs. We have 4 CBs in Alex, Inanovic, Terry and DL. I'm not suggesting we have to sell anybody but the back line needs to be sorted out. We've been breached by all sorts of average strikers this season and I really don't like that feeling as a top 4 team I feel we should be alot more solid at the back. I also feel a turning point at OT was Nani's goal which could easily have been stopped by some speed/pressure from the backline or even midfield

I guess the second point in out was kinda just a rant but even with 1-2 injuries we have alot of options there and no room for youth. I am of the belief that once you get your CB pair right, you don't touch it. So if Terry/Luiz hit it off, then they are THE pair, Alex and Ivan will have to be content to bench or play in smaller games/when Terry/Luiz are tired.

I agree with three out of the four points, I would rather we resign Bosingwa and look for a younger RB, Bosingwa has done well so he should stay on. Plus this way fits the youth program.

Also, I would look for a young CM to play alongside/compete with McEachran.

Someone with the Potential to be WC.

He was (very)overpriced from what I remember last window otherwise I think we'd definitely be after him.

No, he is overrated.

We should keep buying young players, teenagers. Bosingwa is doing a bang up job, he still has three years in him too.

Hmm I was seeing numbers in the range of 30mil, at 12-15mil that's fine.

I disagree that he's overrated + Bosingwa is not a WC fullback/wingback imo, he's not a problem that needs to be patched up but we could also do alot better I think, i.e you look at Cole/Mata vs Bos/Sturridge and it's no contest, obviously different players etc but I still think Bos could offer more to Sturridge.

I believe he is too average defencively. Decent in attack though. Bosingwa is good enough for now. I still want us to buy a teenage RB who can grow into the role.

Cn you guys think of any great teenage CM's we could go for? Someone to play infront of Oriol and next to josh.

introducing Nathan Ake a 16yo defender we bought last season from Feyenoord
im sure i remember reading hes a RB but everything on the net says "defender" so i cant confirm it, but at his age im sure he could me moulded to play anythwere in the back 4

Perfect, will he be ready in 3 years or so. If he isn't we need a mid tweenties RB.

Ake is a CB if i remember correctly although hes young wouldn't be too hard to start moulding him into a CB/RB

We have two very good and RB's in Billy Clifford and Todd Kane. I think both have a chance to make it as a RB for Chelsea.

Hazard might be a very very very nasty signing for Chelsea.

mata and Hazard on wings is better than any wing attack in the world.

No to Hazard. Sure Sturridge hasn't been at his best on the wings but with his talents he will learn and become a beast. Also Kakuta may have a good spell with Bolton.

Way too early to be thinking about who we should buy.

Kakuta will never play well on the wings, play him in AM.

As for Hazard, no.

sturridge, Mata, Lalkovic and a last option of Kakuta or Piazon is enough for now.
