Janurary transfer window.
Aside from Torres do we need any other players? Anybody we should sell? Discuss.

Re: Janurary transfer window.
Possible strikers:
Falcao - 26 years old
Possibly the best striker in the world at the moment, is a great finisher on both feet, fast and can use his head. Decided he wanted to learn how to take free kicks and slotted a perfect one to win the game only weeks ago. Is likley to cost alot if we do go for him and I think it's unlikely Atletico would let him go if they manage to hold on to 2nd place up until Jan.
Doumbia - 24 years old
The lightning Ivory Coast frontman currently plays in Russia. He's said before he would love to play for the blues and would not be as expensive as other options. He's still young and last season scored 37 goals in 53 games across all competitions.
Will add more if I think of them

Yeah I was trying to think an area we're not strong in, I guess if we brought some youth in is the only thing that could be good.

Re: Janurary transfer window.
The ONLY position that needs filling, as Barrett said, is CF. I'll be seriously fuming if they bring in even more players, as it would only kill off whatever chances our youngsters and loanees have of getting into the side.

In particular, I'm talking about the likes of Josh, Chalobah, Bruma/Kalas, DeBruyne, Piazon, etc.ShedEnd1905 wrote:The ONLY position that needs filling, as Barrett said, is CF. CF is the obvious one. If we wanted to go all out for dominance, we could buy a DLP type player but Rambo-Mikel is fantastic.

Re: Janurary transfer window.
i was watching the Arsenal vs yanited game today adn the entire time i was thinking, "imagine if OscHazMat was feeding RVP" and then i think about Torres and its just crazy how far behind we are in the CF department.
Although i still think Sturridge is the best long term choice atm im resinged ot him leaving on a bosman and in which case i honestly hope we either stick with Torres/Sturidge and then play Lukaku next season after loosing Torres and Sturidge at the end of the season or buying someone in Jan who we can rotate with Lukaku for next season and for the rest of this season bench Torres (completing Sturridges osctracision)
If the latter were to occue id rather we sold Sturridge in Jan for like 10mil then ostracise him for another 3 months and the loose him for nothing

Re: Janurary transfer window.
I am pretty sure torres will be staying till the end of the season, and then could see a possibility for a move for falcao depending on how atletic does in la liga, but then again chelsea's going to be cautious of big sum deals. But Id take Doumbia, Doumbia/Lukaku rotation looks boss.

He's nowhere near ready to be Chelsea's main striker.

Re: Janurary transfer window.
Lukaku is 19 yrs old, at 19 yrs old
-Drogba just started playing in Ligue 2
-Eto'o was on loan to Mallorca
-Messi had just been promoted from Barca B to the first team
-Henry was at Monacco
-Van Nistlroy was playing for FC Den Bosch
-Harry Kewel made 1 apperance for Leeds
-Higuain was playing for River Plate
-David Villia was playing for Sporting Gijón B
-Falcao was signed by River Plate
-Doumbia was playing for Kashiwa Reysol
-Huntelaar was on loan at De Graafschap
-Ibrahimovic was playing for Malmö FF
-Ronaldinho was a rotational player at Grêmio
Every single one of those players is/was a world beater, many of which youd all be happy if we signed now, but at 19 some were completly unknown and others were still nothing more then kids with potential, although to contrast, at 19 Lukaku has:
-33 goals in 73 apperances for Anderlect (remeber he debuted at 15 yrs old, this is quite litteraly a case of boys vs men)
-3 goals in 17 for the Beligun NT
-3 goals in 8 apperances for WBA
not to mention at WBA hes got a midfield of Gera, Brunt, Morrison and Mulumbu feeding him (no wonder Shane Long carries the creatve burden) while at Chelsea he'd have our awesome midfield feeding him.
But anyway, tell me more about how the few apperances hes made in pre-season friendlies in experimental Chelsea sides with 0 chemistry that sturrgled against MLS sides is a clear determinant of his entire carear to come

Mate, I never said he's not going to be a good player. Quite the contrary, in fact; I think he's going to be brilliant for us someday. My point, in my exact words, was that he's "nowhere near ready" to be Chelsea's main striker, which is what you seemed to be suggesting we do next season. If you think a 19 year old is going to take Chelsea to Premier League titles and Cup successes in the next 2 or 3 years, you're crazy. He needs alot more development. He's not even good enough to start for West Brom atm FFS.

The difference between Lukaku and all those players excluding Drogba(btw your information about Messi is wrong), is that Lukaku game is solely based on his physical ability. It is much easier to look good and play well against older players, when you are physically stronger and faster. His success and recognition is based on the fact he is build like a tank, clearly not for his technique and intelligence. Where the other players on your list is known for the opposite, much harder to play against grown man when your body is not developed. So it is quite understandable why those players have achieved far less in their early careers then Lukaku.
I am a skeptic of Lukaku, because i don't see Lukaku as a footballer but just a mere athlete. Until he develops his technique and plays more intelligently, i refuse to believe in the hype.
btw Drogba picked up football much later in his life compared to others.

Indeed considering we already owned 40% of him, thanks to the Deco deal.
btw we also have 50% ownership of Ronan, another talented Fluminense defender.

I'm starting to wonder if these idiots realize you have to have a certain number of Englishmen in a team.
