Who said Serie A is dead? Empty Who said Serie A is dead?

Post by elm_baraja_shaman Thu Sep 15, 2011 5:52 am

forget Inter Milan  [who are having some problems]

- I am of the belief that if Udinese had Inler and Sanchez, they would have beaten Arsenal real bad.

- AC Milan 2 - World Best [Barcelona] 2 in Camp Nou of all places smoking

- Man City [Arab Money, and one of current best in England] 1 - Napoli [Italian team on the rise] 1 through a lucky goal.

I think Italy even deserves 5 CL places instead of the impending 3.

And who said Serie A is dead?

another case of people just listning to the media or just shwoing there bias.

serie a is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be but it also isnt the best.

this forum has a bad case of either overating or underating.

there is never a middle ground here

I don't understand the massive arguments about how good Serie A is, with stats and debates, etc. It seems pretty obvious to me that Serie A is a level below the EPL, La Liga, and Bundesliga. All you have to do is watch a few games between Serie A teams to realize just how slow-paced and sluggish the play is in comparison to other top leagues.

i wont argue regarding being below epl.

but your the one that obviously doesnt watch and are just going with what seems to be the consensus these days.

first ill start of with la liga tell me how a 2 team league is better than serie a where there are many strong teams ?

second how could u put la liga above bundesliga?
again bundesliga is always tough to predict and besides bayern normally being favorites u never know who else is gonna come up and challenge them ?

seria a, slow paced and sluggish?
again ur just goin with what the consensus is,u obviously dont watch the games.

u know for a league that is supposedly 4th best we done pretty well in champs league with our slow sluggish football, i mean when was the last time a bundesliga team ever won it?

and i cant be bothered checking but the last 11 years im pretty sure weve been on par with engalnd and spain with how many cl's all 3 league have won during the last 11 years.

jeez every here just reads media reports and what other people say and just spit out the same shit.

how la liga is second best i dnt know both serie a and bundesliga are better league than that.

real mardid and barca are there only saving grace but also the reason there is no competition in that league.

and if were goin of style of football the leagues play, what if j - league teams started playin the most attractive football withing there league but were still crap teams would u say there league is number cause really this is what ur sayin.

u go of the strength of a league as whole nothing else.

and serie a is up there with how many strong teams we have.

2 teams drew
One team lost to possibly the worst team in the CL this year at home.
Another one didnt even qualify losing both home and away in qualifiers

And Seria A deserve 5 CL spots based on this

Again why such fights.. Leave it to the fans taste to see fast paced counterattacking football or slow tactical football.. Cant say one is more effective than the other..
And 5 cl spots..? For what ? Lol.. If u say so.. Tottenham who is surely below the top teams of Premier League stormed through their debutant CL groupstages.. Surely then PL also deserves 5 spots...

Post by Lord Spencer Thu Sep 15, 2011 9:08 am

@OP, please don't knee jerk much.

These arguments about the league, and the league specifics are getting boring.

Serie A plays "slow and sluggish" football and yet at the first round, we get 35 goals in 10 games.
18 goals more than the EPL.
5 more than La Liga, and La Liga had 11 goals from Barca and Real Madrid alone.
The Bundesliga have less games, but the ratio in Serie A is greater by 1 goal per game. (3.5 -2.55= .95)

I really think that you did not, and do not watch Serie A if you hold that ridicilous opinion. I am not saying Serie A is the best league in the world or anything, and I implore my fellow Serie A fans to calm the frak down, but this Serie A stereotyping and bashing is going way off the mark.

This actually shows that many here are fans of their clubs first, and football second. I wish all the leagues to get better because I Want to watch more quality football. I miss the early 200's La Liga where it was a very tight affair between 4-5 teams. I never watched the EPL a lot before, but I especiallyI liked the 2008 (I think) season where you had 4 teams fighting realistically for the title. I always liked the bundesliga, and always call for other leagues to follow their financial model.

This BS about Serie A being a borefest, and being said by ignorant fans who never watches anything that is not hyped by the media is getting boring. Hell, if it was said by some of the more tactically astute posters around, I would respect the opinion, but to be thrown around by every harry, mohammed, and krishna is getting ridicilous.

Way too much contradictions here.

If competitiveness is what the strength of the league should be judged then Bundensliga is the best league in Europe.4 champions in 5 years unlike 2champions in last 5 years in PL or Seria A or La liga.

Yet for PL and Seria A you base the quality of teams to measure the strength of the league but then use competitiveness to say La Liga is behind other leagues? Why not use the same criteria for all comparisons.

It's funny how Serie A may seem dead and yet in the past few years we won 2 CL's. Not to mention Milan, Inter are two clubs bigger than Bayern and any other club in the Bundesliga. Add in the likes of Roma and Juventus growing and Lazio some what up there now and Napoli who's just that good of squad(not CL contender lol). Add in also all the star players Serie A still has, so I don't see how its dead, when it's rising.

Gee....we're pretty lucky that leagues are judged on the whole 39 matches and not just "a few", now aren't we?
