Being fat could be the root source of the exhaustion though........
Lol, he's fat now? 5 extra pounds means you gained weight, not that you're fat...
And overplay is a much likelier cause + international travelling. If it's fatness then that will keep showing during the rest of the season.

You know the funny thing is Messi was first coming up I thought he would end up being like a Pedro type of player. A wide man with above avg trickery and a decent eye for goal.

Quintessential Goal Legacy discussion.
Reality : Messi puts on 5lbs of muscle and Barca introduce cheap quality (though good looking) shirts.
Here : Messi is fat

Dude I really didn't mean to troll.
It was an honest question.......
If he did put on 5 pounds of muscle fair play to him , I was enquiring due to the popular opinion around here that he has become fat and the possible realated effect of that on his fitness.
Messi , more than any other player , has to really take care of his body...
The treatment which he undergoed for his Growth condition more than likely prematurely aged his his bones ie being overweight can cause real problems for him, especially considering the pressure that will be put on his joints week in week out as a professional footballer.
I apologise to all those who perceived my enquiry as an attempt to troll, although I am a bit confused as to how my questions and statements could've been interpreted that way.

Arthritis.
Carpal tunnel.
The arthritis is specifically the one that is most troubling

I am no expert , so take anything I say with a grain of salt, but messi should really take care here, the physical wear and tear of the unbelievable amount of football being played today alone could be enough to cause these diseases naturally, so it is even more worrying that he is vurnerable to them , even if he is just slightly vurnerable. He has had a few major injuries , and those things almost never truly 100 % heal, so you guys need to give him as much protection and rest as possible.
I really don't want to see him a shadow of his former self at 27 , the Madrid/Barca rivalry over the coming years could go down as The greatest years in football History, and alot of that is dependent on him, so I really hope he takes care of his body.
NB: About the "bone age" thing , I'm sorry about that, I misinterpreted a article , it was about the specific "bone ages" which best to administer the HGH treatment , not about the effects of HGH on "none age".The only other article I could find was a study on those over 60 , which found that HGH treatment accelerated "bone aging" , but I suppose that is not applicable to this discussion.
@LM Cool Story Bro.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
I think the weight gain was specifically designed with Real madrid thuggery in mind. During the quad-classico of last season, he was hacked down endlessly by Real madrid thugs such as Pepe, Ramos, Alonso, and co.
This extra bulking up will help him. As a matter of fact, it has already helped him.
We all saw how he performed in the supercopa against Real Madrid. He somehow looked stronger and I think this resonated with the real madrid players, perhaps even mentality, as Pepe slipped and lost his footing allowing for a goal.
He's got some of the best trainers around him, and I'm sure they know what is the optimal physical condition for Leo. Let's not forget how much this kid is worth.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Actually, adding on more weight would only hamper his acceleration, but it doesn't since his natural balance is phenomenal. So he will just get stronger with out any down sides until he passes 178lbs or so. He won't jump for his life, but that's not really important..

22 goals and 11 assists in 17 games. Messi is well on his way to meet my expectations (60 goals).
I stated back in '09 how I wanted him to score 40 goals in 09-10, 50 in 10-11, 60 in 11-12 and 70 in 12-13.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Tbh... other than ragbirjosh's first post, which he later explained, there isn't much trolling.
Anyway, if you want an explanation Dani summed it up pretty well. Any Barca fan on here could point to photos at the beginning of the season that showed Messi had been working out and bulked up a bit. He hasn't put enough on to make him slower, he's just put a bit more muscle on his arms and upper body to help him combat physical tactics. I think its a great move by him.
Its only really the shirts which are unflattering. YTF haven't they changed the shirts yet? They shouldn't stay wet...

Nobody has been this lethal.
Not Pele,not Maradona,not Eusebio,not Cruyff,not Ronaldo,not anybody.
Nobody comes even close.
Haters may say whatever they want.
But right now we are watching the greatest to have played the game of football.
He wins us the league and CL this year and he is the GOAT.

Humm, you always defended that Cruyff was still above Messi. Why the change?

That was before this season. But he has taken his game up another notch this season.
He is now one of the top 3 passers in the world. He has improved his freeekicks.
Also I dont know if you have noticed, but he now has a very good right foot.He can finish very well with it.
Not just finish but he has started controlling the ball with it(a lot of first touches you will see him do with his right nowadays where previously he would have tried his left),has started passing the ball with his right foot.
Plus he gets even more involved in play than last season.
All this while scoring 50 plus goals a season. As I mentioned he plays half the game in midfield, half the game in between the lines, makes 4,5 runs into the box every game and still manages to score a goal a game.
Add to that the phenomenal assist stats, the build play he participates him(he had somethiing like 95 passes last game with 95 % accuracy. That is just freakishly phenomenal),his extraordinary vision and last but not least his out of the world dribbling.
Combine all that and you get the most lethal player the game has ever seen.By some distance.
Still think Cruyff is better but if Messi wins the league and CL this season,he is number one for me.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Since the U20 world cup in the Netherlands some years ago, i always told all my friends "this kid will become the next big thing" by the end of the tournament i was thinking Leo Messi will put even Maradona's name to the test.. and here we are! he is a few stations before reaching his mid career, yet gave all football fans a portfolio worthy of 3 great players! Messi is a joy... him and the amazing current Barca make us wait "impatiently for the next match as soon as the 90 minutes are over ! We are witnessing a Legendary player in a Legendary squad. Aguante Leo, Visca Barca !
