HULL MIDFIELDER LIVERMORE ALLEDGEDLY TESTS POSITIVE FOR COCAINE
HULL MIDFIELDER LIVERMORE ALLEDGEDLY TESTS POSITIVE FOR COCAINE
http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2015/05/16/hull-midfielder-livermore-alledgedly-tests-positive-cocaineHull midfielder Jake Livermore was suspended by the Premier League club and the Football Association amid reports the England international had tested positive for cocaine.
The Tigers released a statement confirming Livermore's suspension after numerous reports circulated earlier in the day that he had failed a drugs test.
Although the club didn't acknowledge the reports, the Daily Telegraph claimed Livermore failed a post-match drug test after Hull's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on 25 April.
The 25-year-old played for Steve Bruce's struggling side in its 1-0 defeat against relegation rival Burnley last weekend, but the Telegraph said "the club had no choice but to ban him once it was informed of the test result".
A brief statement from Hull read: "Following suspension by the FA the club has subsequently suspended Jake Livermore pending further investigations to be made by the FA and our own internal disciplinary procedures.
"The club is unable to make any further comment during this process."
The PFA said in a statement: "The PFA notes the charge levied against Jake Livermore of Hull City regarding an alleged anti-doping violation.
"We are providing our full support at this difficult time but will make no further comment as the matter is subject to the appropriate processes."
Livermore – capped once by England – has played in all bar one of Hull's Premier League games this season, scoring once against former club Tottenham in November.
The 25-year-old's career has included loan spells at a host of clubs, including Leeds United and Derby County.
Hull, who faces Livermore's old club Tottenham on Sunday (AEST), is third bottom of the Premier League and two points adrift of safety with two games remaining.

Considering cocaine actually impairs his performance, why should the FA be concerned about this at all?

Yeah but i doubt they want the Police on their ass for not dealing with a footballer who tested positive for an illegal substance

What's there to deal with? They're not law enforcement, it's not their responsibility to deal with anything. They shouldn't be testing for anything except performance enhancers in the first place.
Although I agree that if they get knowledge that a certain player used drugs then that puts them in a legal grey area, is it ilegal to have possession of drugs or to have used drugs? I'm think it's the former, but I'm not sure.

Most of all, you can assume he had the coke a few days before at a party or something, surely not in the bathroom before the game.
So it actually doesn't affect his performance in any way.

The Frenchman reveals he has an equine passion, like Sir Alex Ferguson
By Telegraph Sport
Arsène Wenger, the manager of Arsenal, has revealed that he likes horses.
Comparing his equine passion with that of his former rival Sir Alex Ferguson, Wenger said, "He is lucky because he is interested in horses as well, When he gets up in the morning, he can go to horses practise or training, which is early in the morning so that is great. I love horses but I don't go to races. I like horses in general."
Wenger, who is credited with Jack Wilshire's emergence as a footballer, does not ride horses however. "My back could not take it," he said.
When pressed on where his passion for colts, fillies, mares and stallions came from, Wenger revealed: "I am a farmer." Wenger does not work as a farmer, but is from the Alsace region of France, which is traditionally a farming region.
Wenger does not intend to follow his passion when he retires, instead saying that he will spend his newly acquired free time "watching football".
