insane.
The guy is crazy and those stats prove it. Also, he made Mikel look like a fool in that video, along with half of the Nigeria team.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Once again another Leo Messi exhibition. With the three goals he scored against Athletico Madrid, the Argentine star has now scored 192 goals for Barça, just two behind the legendary Hungarian striker Laszi Kubala, who scored 194 in total.
He’s only 24, but Messi’s are the stats of a veteran. He’s about to catch Kubala and is increasingly closer to reaching the top scorer in the history of the Club, Cesar Rodriguez (235). In an exclusive interview on Barça TV’s “El Marcador”, Messi expressed his desire to continue making history at Barça: “I’m pretty calm about it. I just take it a game at a time, but obviously I’m very excited about becoming top scorer. Many years have gone by and it’s still the same player [referring to Kubala]. Hopefully I can beat his stats. I want to continue breaking records here”.
“I don’t think about the milestones ahead”
The great form Messi is in is not making him think about the challenges ahead, except team ones “We have to take it all bit by bit, without thinking about milestones. I think the most important thing for this team is to keep winning, and keep winning titles for us and the fans. This is far more important than any individual prize or statistic”.
Athletico Madrid, his favourite victim He’s already scored 14 goals against Athletico in the League, and they’re his favourite victim, ahead of Seville (10). Yesterday he scored a hat-trick, the eleventh of his career as a professional footballer, and his third against Athletico Madrid. As tradition dictates, the Argentinian took the match-ball home with him: “I’ll find a place to put it, alongside the other balls I have” said the striker. It was also his 150th goal in the Guardiola era.
New formation
Messi admits that they still have to adapt to the 3-4-3 system that Guardiola has used recently, but he’s pretty excited about it: “We feel pretty comfortable with it. There are some things we still aren’t doing well, just like with the previous system, but that’s OK. It takes time and practice. We still aren’t totally used to it. Personally I’m pretty happy, because up front we have more space and we can link up better with the midfield players, and receive more passes”.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
And another minor but noteworthy accomplishment for Messi: His eight goals so far in La Liga are the most ever scored in such few matches. Seriously, he will not tire of raising the bar.
Edit: Not the most ever scored but the most in the last 25 years.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
► Leading scorer in a single season: Last season, Messi chalked up 53 goals in official games- 31 in the league, 12 in the Champions League, 7 in the Spanish Cup and 3 in the Spanish Super Cup, making him the player to have scored most goals in a single season.
► Club’s leading scorer in the league: The season before, Messi scored a massive 34 goals in 35 league games, equalling Ronaldo’s Club record from the 1996/97 season.
► Leading international goal scorer: With 42 goals in international competitions (39 in the Champions League, 1 in the European Super Cup and 2 in the World Club Cup), Messi has scored more than any other player in the Club’s history and is also the Club’s leading scorer in the Champions League.
► Leading Scorer in the Champions League: Messi has been the highest scorer in the last three editions of the Champions League – something which only Müller and Papin had achieved previously. His 12 goals in the last campaign matched Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record set in the 2002/03 season.
► Leading scorer in the Spanish Super Cup: At the very start of this season, Messi set a new record with his three goals in the Spanish Super Cup to become the competition’s leading scorer with a total of 8 goals.
► In the 2009/10 season he became the only player to have ever been won the Fifa World Player of the Year Award, the Spanish League’s leading scorer award, The Golden Boot and the European Footballer of the Year Award in the same season.
► Two European Player of the Year Awards: Messi became the youngest ever player to receive the Award in consecutive seasons, when he picked it up in 2010.
► Club’s leading scorer in the league: The season before, Messi scored a massive 34 goals in 35 league games, equalling Ronaldo’s Club record from the 1996/97 season.

Yeah, I saw that on the news. Not only his great grandfather, but also his great grandmother was from a small village close to Lleida (Catalonia). They met while on the ship emigrating to Argentina. They also showed a Messi's great-cousin-grandmother, and funnily, one of her grandons looks a lot like Messi (but he is a Madrid fan )
So this would make Messi 12,5% catalan.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
The Spain squad would be rigged up if Messi was playing for Spain. He would play better for Spain because they play the same way as Barcelona. Interesting facts there. Apparently (according to my dad) Messi's parents wanted to go to Australia. If Messi's parents went to Australia, would he be able to play country soccer there?

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
I hope Messi learns from this and starts shooting his penalties in the other direction more often, he shoots ~70% of his penalties to the left of the goalkeeper, and I also hope he matures as a player mentally from his penalty miss.

The commentator said it after the missed penalty during the game. Do you have conflicting evidence? Wouldn't be the first time a commentator was wrong

From memory he's missed more than 2, and I saw a stat somewhere and I think it was about 5 times he's had his shot saved.
